Initial requirement capture
- The CMS will handle course scheduling of fall/winter/spring quarters for
the EWU Computer Science Department.
- The CMS will include a Java-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) for ease
of use.
- The CMS will take into account the location of an instructor's office
(Instructor teaches at base location).
- User will be responsible for entering the following:
- Rooms available (assuming that the Computer Science department is only
concerned with the number of rooms in SIRTI, not their individual
capacity)
- Instuctors' times of availability, office locations, etc.
- Course information
- Course offerings (information about specific classes, containing time,
instructor, cross-listing, etc.)
- Block scheduling will be available.
- Course offerings will be visualized with respect to rooms, instructors,
courses, days of the week, and times of day.
- For a course offering, the user may select a room, an instructor, and/or
a course, and all other resources will be filtered with respect to items
selected (i.e. resources not available are removed from consideration).
- CMS will thus prevent scheduling conflicts including:
- More than one class in a single room (unless cross-listed)
- Scheduling instructors who are not available
- Time Conflicts
- CMS will be able to save data entered (i.e. instructors' preferences,
rooms, course offerings, etc.)
