Momoe played a young woman, Yanagida Kiriko, whose brother was falsely accused for a murder. On learning that Otsuka Kinzo was a great laywer, Kiriko tried to hired him to defend for her brother. However, Kinzo refused on the basis that Kiriko could not afford his fee. Meanwhile, Kiriko's brother, who could not stand the life in the prison, committed suicide. Kiriko blamed her brother's death Kinzo and set off to seeks vengeance. She planted evidence against Kinzo's mistress Michiko and lied to the police to set her up on a murder rap. Tomokazu played a reporter, who fell for Kiriko and wanted to help her forget her sorrow and anger.
