| Momoe was only 14 years old then. She
played Kaori, a young dancer (odoriko) from Izu. Together with her
entertaining group, she travelled across Japan dancing and amusing people
for a living.
One day, on their way back to their hometown Ooshima, she met a Tokyo University undergraduate (Tomokazu). He was on vacation. This undergraduate was attracted to Kaori's innocence and followed the group back to Ooshima. This movie is an adaptation of the novel-prizing winner, Kawabata Yasunari's same-titled nobel. The story is actually a "autobiography" of Mr Kawabata.  |
