Reflections on Portfolio and Class

I am proud and satisfied with the outcome of my portfolio and other works that I completed in this class.

Particularly, I am proud of my creative short story, “The Ill Story,” which I wrote with Ben. There is a plot

that grabs you right away and doesn’t let go until the conclusion. The action comes constantly and reads almost

like a “Quintin Tarantino” movie according to Ms. G.

I am also proud of my Catcher in the Rye final project. I was able to express the feelings and themes that

were contained in The Catcher in the Rye by picking songs from various artists and even writing and recording

my own songs. Music plays a large role in my life, and I was able to utilize this outlet so that I could communicate

the feelings of a character through my words.

I enjoyed the class itself very much. We were able to have interesting discussions, which often rose into heated

debates and even arguments. There were very strongly held views by members of the class, and I felt that that

contributed to the atmosphere of an open discussion. I also feel that we learned more because we were exposed

to the other viewpoint in a way that was easy to understand. I also liked the small class size because it allowed a

type of intimacy and closeness rarely found in classes, and every class member contributed to a discussion at one

point during the semester.

I hope my next semester of English is as enjoyable as this semester was.
