For those who are too lazy to travel all the way up to Harlem, here's a closer alternative. This E. Village spot serves its neighbors a well-justified soul feeders. My best bet is to stick with the catfish, and other specials they may have for that day. The drink selection here is awesome too, but expect a larger bill than Emily's.

SOBA NIPPON (52nd b/w 5th & 6th)@$$$
By far the best place to get some decent soba in the city. I've been disappointed a many of times at other places but here I've always been satisfied. Although the prices are high compared to Japanese standards, the taste does much justice.

The city's best Cuban cuisine is offered at this hot spot in Soho. Their grilled corn appetizer is phenomenal...and all of their entree have been a surprising delight. For a resonable price, great food can be enjoyed at this crowded little grub joint, just be sure to get their early to get ahead of the long line that usually forms by 7pm.
