Skybox for Stage 5
For over a decade, Stage Five has been a regular feature at Walnut Valley. It started when Russell and Sherri Brace (of Wichita) brought a truck to the Pecan Grove upon which they had erected a stage for walk-on performers. Over the years, Stage 5 has grown to the point that performers now must sign up for a slot on an increasingly crowded schedule. Even some of the biggest name main stage performers make it a point to play this campground stage. As the popularity of the stage grew and the audiences grew, those in the campground neighborhood found they could no longer simply wander over to the stage. Thus, they started erecting structures by which they could see the stage from their own campsite. This effort reached new heights in the year 2000 as you can see in this photo where a Pecan Grove resident is busy erecting his skybox. Building a skybox at an informal campground stage might be over the top elsewhere, but over the top is normal at Winfield.
