| This was a cheap-o cel, bought specifically because it was "stuck to sketch", and I wanted to rip it apart to see just how bad it would be. From those humble beginnings, it has now become: THE CEL SIGNED BY HIROKI HAYASHI, Co-Creator of Tenchi Muyo! Mr. Hayashi was at Sakura Con and was kind enough to give autographs. I think the angle of the chopsticks and Tenchi's gaze work well with the autograph, don't you? ;-) Purchased from AnimeChaos. |
| Hiroki Hayahsi SIDENOTE: Mr. Hayashi had his beginnings as an animator on such classics as Thundercats and Silverhawks. But when working on Bubblegum Crisis, he wanted the characters to take a break from all the non-stop action and head to the hot springs for a laid-back, fanboy-pleasing episode. His request....was denied. But that idea eventually came to fruition. With the help of Masaki Kajishima, that simple idea became the basis for Tenchi Muyo! Six beautiful women and one guy---talk about a fanboy paradise! LOL! Learning the ironic (and almost casual) origin of Tenchi Muyo! really put things in perspective for me. I think nobody was more surprised than Mr. Hayashi at how successful and popular it has become! |
