| I fell in love with this car when I first saw it on the prisoner tv show. I knew very little about it at the time. all I knew was it was a English sports car the Lotus 7. I never dreamed I would own one. when ever someone would ask what my dream car was I would say the Lotus 7 and nobody would know what I was talking about. Many years later my search for a super seven started, when I saw what I thought was a Lotus 7 and, later found out is was a westfield( a copy ). I flagged this guy down to get some info from him. He offers to take me for a ride ( of cource I take him up on it ). He gave me two contacts one being Bob yarwood from Westfield ( who he bought his car from) and Cris Tchorznicki from Sevens and Elans(Caterham). with a little research and a couple of phone calls I find out that the Lotus is still being made under the name Caterham 7 ( a company that took over the Lotus in 1973). April 12 2000 I call Cris from Sevens and Elans. I get a good feeling talking to him and he say's he'll send me some more info. April 17 2000 I recieve a letter and a couple of page's on prices and the options that can be made on the Seven. I'm very excited to do this but, the recent birth of my son makes me wait. April 9 2001 Now a year later I decided it's time, so I call Cris again to check to see if anything has changed ( most of all prices and wait time ) and nothing has ( great ). After the phone call I check finances for the car and everything is a go. April 11 2001 I call cris back and I make a few choices but, not sure which way to go live axel or de-dion. Cris say's he will price both for me and send via e-mail. April 12 2001 I get an e-mail on both prices, and options. After a few days I decide on the live axel. April 20 2001 I call Cris and tell him of what I decided to go with and that I'll send him a check for the deposit. He congradulated me on buying a Seven and that he is going to send me something in the mail with my recept. April 26 2001 I get a invoice for my deposit and a key fob March 2 2001 Cris sends me an e-mail with my build date (June 29 2001). March 14 2001 I oder a couple of books off the Caterham web site March 23 2001 I recieve my books in the mail ( I go though them really fast). The wait is just going to kill me. June 19 2001 I talk to Cris on the phone and I send out the first balance that is due ( my build date is coming up ). Cris has most of my money and all I got is a key fob ( funny ). June 24 2001 I get an e-mail from Cris on my corrections and that he received my check June 29 2001 My build date August 6 2001 I call Cris to see if the car has been shipped, and find out it's been delayed. August 17 2001 I call Cris and all I get is bad news again. The car wasn't shipped because, Caterham has no back axel. They will get them in on Friday which means another delay and a big one with Cris going to the UK factory. Now we are looking at the car shipping either the 11th or the 17th of September. This sucks. September 6 2001 I get an e-mail from Cris that the car is ready and should ship on the 17th . October 2 2001 I call Cris and find out the car shipped this past friday and he is waiting for it to go though customs ( great ). |
