IS THE FLOPPY DRIVE ACCESSED EACH TIME MY COMPUTER OPENS?

Are you tired of waiting on a fast computer that's running slowly? Do
you have to wait while your computer tries to read what, if anything, is in
the floppy drive each time you open My Computer? If this has happened to
you, the probable cause is an incorrect registry value. This is fairly
simple to correct. (Before you make the following changes to the registry,
be sure to first back it up.)

1. Click Start | Run.

2. Type regedit.

3. Click OK.

4. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsCurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

5. Double-click the NoDriveTypeAutoRun entry and change the Binary Value
to 95 00 00 00.

6. OK your changes and close Regedit.exe.

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect. When your computer
has restarted, open My Computer and check to see if your drives appear
immediately in the window without the system first attempting to access
the floppy drive.
