HAIKU
The Mood of
Earth
by Ann Atwood
(I use these selections for an interpretive movement assignment. Have each student choose and memorize one of the poems. He then creates an interpretive movement to it. Stress using all aspects of movement and levels. Once everyone has created his performance, group the students in 5-6. Each student presents his haiku movement performance to his group. The group picks one member's presentation to learn as a group; then as a group presents it to the class. The class then chooses one of those to learn. The class, as a whole, presents the final haiku.) Click on the book icon below for the selections.
