STEPS TO CREATING YOUR COMMERCIAL:

DAY ONE  (block day, 90 minutes)   *or DAYS ONE and TWO

  1. Choose groups and get a copy of each person's phone number so you can call each other to remind yourselves of important things about the preparation of your commercial.
  2. Brainstorm and decide on a product/store.
  3. Discuss types of character roles that would be appropriate for product/store.
  4. Improvise skit more than once-adding new ideas each time.
  5. Make a list of needed props to bring in on DAY TWO.  Your props and scenery must be made at home or before school and kept in a bag or box in the storage room clearly labeled.  Example:  7/1, Group 1
  6. Write a rough draft of commercial.  Remember to include the requirements from the first page.
DAY TWO (block day, 90 minutes)  *or DAYS THREE and FOUR

  1. Rehearse with props over and over and over and?
  2. Make a list of things you need that you still don't have and decide who will bring those items in the next day.  All props and scenery are due on DAY THREE.
  3. One person should take home script paper to write a final copy.  It can be handwritten on the script paper provided or you may print it from the computer as long as you include the information required and listed on my script paper.

DAY THREE (split day, Friday, 45 minutes)  *or DAY FIVE

  1. Check to see if you have all props/scenery/final copy of script.  Do you have your props/scenery in a LABELED box or bag?
  2. Turn in final copy of script.  Have you included all the required elements?  Check carefully.
  3. Rehearse and time your scene.  You may find that your scene is too long.  If so, you must make changes to shorten the time.  Your final performance may be somewhat different than your final copy of the script.
*Days set up depending on whether we follow a block schedule or traditional schedule
