Where are you from originally, Yu Hong?

Im from China . . . from near Shanghai.

And when did you move here?

I came here [1] I graduated from college. That was in 1992.

And what do you do now?

Im a transportation engineer.

I see. So youre an immigrant to the [2] States?

Yes, thats right.

What are some of the [3] of being an immigrant in the US?

Oh, [4] not an easy question to answer. There [5] so many things, really. I guess one [6] the biggest difficulties is that I dont [7] any relatives here. I mean, I have [8] lot of friends, but thats not the [9] thing. In China, on holidays or the [10] we visit relatives. It isnt the same here.

And what do you miss the most from home?

Oh, thats easy. My moms soup! She makes [11] soup. I really miss my mothers cooking.

[12] are you from, Ajay?

Im from India.

And when [13] you move to the US?

It was in 1991.

Are you studying here at the moment?

Not now. [14] came here as a student and graduated [15] years ago. Im working as a computer technician.

Uh-huh. And what was it like when you [16] came here? Was it difficult?

Yeah, it was [17] times. The main difficulty I had was [18] the educational system. Things are very different [19] Teaching methods, everything is very different from [20] I was used to in India.

And what [21] you miss the most from India?

To tell [22] the truth, after youre here for awhile, [23] dont miss anything very much. Hmmm, but [24] guess the weather and my family are [25] things I miss. And the quality of [26] The quality of life is much nicer [27] home, frankly speaking.
