More than Vain Fantasy
By: Jason Kuntz

Written especially for Melissa, because she likes poems.

The word Love has been given many different meanings
Each man has his own definition.
But to me all I see is vain fantasy
Love is much more.

Love is more than the feelings between a man and a woman...
Love is more than a friendly hug or a kiss...
Love is surely much more than so-called "godly preaching"...
much more than giving spare change to the poor.
Love is more than vain fantasy

Love is unreserved giving of oneself to a stranger,
for all are strangers deep in side,
each of us is hiding behind our own little mask,
Unless we love then we have nothing to hide.

Love is the force that motivates people,
sets us free for us to become more.
Love is what moves us, changes us, redeems us,
Love is what will finally complete us.

The man without love is already dead,
but the man who loves can never die,
Love makes us more than merely human,
It allows us to reach and grasp the divine.

Love is what conquers all of our animal instincts,
allowing us to become gifts for each other,
The man who loves is a blessing on his neighbor,
a gift from God coming to earth.

For God is not far away,
He comes to us in our neighbors,
if we stop a second and not look at their faults,
we would see a precious gift from above.
Yes, in every man, woman and child,
We would see a gift of God's pure love.

We were all made to be gifts to each other,
not counting a single person out,
By giving ourselves away to each other,
We will find a special secret called love.

This is where all the joy in life comes from,
Other people for on our own life is real dull,
If we give ourselves away to each other,
They would find joy, and maybe some courage,
To share with someone else the gift of themselves.

If one day all men put aside petty quarrels,
and allowed God to give them the gift of others,
then we would have peace all around us,
Then we would have really found true love.

Yes, love is much more than vain fantasy,
If we all gave ourselves away to each other,
maybe then we would be able to conquer all evils,
and every man would have peace in his heart.
No two men would ever again quarrel,
No two people would ever be set apart.
Love is much more than vain fantasy,
For if we loved,
all fantasy would come true.
