Hunter and Prey

The ignorant one is seduced,
as a fish to a hook,
tasting the treat, unaware of the sharp pull that awaits,
seeing only the sensual bait.

He bites.
The line is reeled in,
He thrashes, flapping in ecstasy not fear
enjoying the danger he awaits.

Innocent bodies exposed
Distant, sterile, intimacy
Her members revealed to all
Her heart to none.

Fools among fools
victims among victims
There are no fishermen - only fish
They reel each other in, enjoying the company
Climbing to the heights of carnal pleasure
then falling once again into the drudgery of the sea

A moment of passion
A lifetime of struggle
An eternity of sorrow.

Mutual hunters Mutual prey
A city of losers priding themselves in fool's gold and plastic diamonds.
Oblivious to the LOVE that could make them whole.
Unaware of the rising temperature
yet to awake in the Hell their life has become.

This poem is about the sins of the flesh and how we can very easily become slaves to these sins.
