Catholic Truths in the Bible
This page is meant to defend, promote, and popagate Catholic Doctrine by proving it's presence in Sacred Scripture.  However as Catholics we do not rely soley on Scripture as a source of divine Revelation.  Both Sacred Tradition and the Bible contain the revealed word of God.

*1 Thes 5:10 - both the living and the dead work together (Communion of saints)
* Rev 5:8 - the dead are offering prayers for the "holy ones"
*Mt 18:15-17 - the church is given authority over sin
*Lev 16:21 - The high priest confesses the sins of the people while offering the sacrifice

*Mortification refers to intentional suppressing of one's physical desires to develop self-control, Penance is the act of making reparation to God for our sins.
* Col 1:24 - when we join our sufferings with Christ on the cross we are sharing in his passion as His mystical body the church
* Hos 2:2 - The people will have "one head", this unity is visibly shown through the pope
* Dt 18:9-22 - Moses warns the people not to follow the false practices of the pagans, of special interest in v.15 where God promises to send his prophet to show the people the fullness of the truth.  This is Jesus.  We have no need to seek guidance through divination, God has already spoken through his Son, and continues to speak in his church.

The Truth about the Bible - The bible was officially put together in 393 at the council of Hippo.  Although the books existed before that, it was the CATHOLIC CHURCH that declared them to be the inspired word of God.  The truth is the Church existed long before the bible, and the church actually made the bible.  Many doctrines rejected by the protestants such as praying for the dead, the true presence in the Eucharist, Authority of the Pope, and Mary as the Mother of God were developed before the bible.  With this knowledge it is very difficult to accept the scriptures while denying the Authority of the Church.
