Tribute by Marg

I am very honored to have been asked to read the girls tributes to their grandparents. But I shouldnt have been surprised. Emma and Eli always made my family, including my three daughters, feel as if we were part of their family. We had many wonderful meals at their house or at the trailer at Pine Lake. Lots of delicious food mixed with lots of laughter and the trademark Scheurer warmhearted, but sometimes kind of loud interaction.

So many memories have been pulled from my mind these last few days....fishing, playing cards, listening to Elis stories about the Dirty Thirties in Saskatchewan, and above all - hours and hours spent singing songs. Emma playing her accordion and Eli on the banjo, or sometime balalaika. They knew some great old songs and knew how to have a good time. They could keep up to the best of us younger people. And Ill never forget Elis smoked perch. There isnt a summer goes by that I dont crave them still.

We truly are losing the best of humanity as this generation passes on.
