| konos and cody Konos, right by Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, on Garnet and Mission Blvd, is the spot for breakfast/brunch. Yes, there is always a line, but if you are not in a rush, it is worth the wait to enjoy a very (very) filling breakfast for a cheap price on the porch overlooking the beach. Going to a 1:30p brunch with a friend, we chatted up the two guys in line behind us. They teach martial arts up in LA, just visiting San Diego for farce of July weekend. Chit chat. We talk about spoken word. They ask me if I like Saul Williams. Of course, I say. "I saw him up in LA opening for this singer named Cody..." "Chestnut?" I interrupt. "Yeah, you like?" "Cody 'thank jesus for my mama, thank b!tches for my money' Chestnut? Cody 'b!tch, I'm broke' Chestnut?" The soundtrack of our Oakland field trip would include this fool. I did not really know how to react to all these fabulous down men activist artists bumping "B!tch, I'm broke" and singing along with these lyrics, over and over again. And now, I do not know how to react to him opening up for Saul Williams. Am I missing something? 07.06.03 |
