Kryslyn Belle

Here's a little spot on the web for my niece. She is a miracle in all aspects of the world. If ANYONE could have been born with more strikes against them, it would be amazing.
Anyways, Kryslyn was born on May 13, 1996 sometime in the morning. I am not sure about the time because I didn't find out she was born until my uncle sent me email about it.
Kryslyn was born at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Medical Center (University Hospital for the locals) and weighed a whopping 2lbs. 4 ounces at birth and was a foot long.
Unfortunately, I was at school in Storm Lake when she was born and could not get home to see this baby till she was about 4 days old.
When she was 4 days old (May 16th), the doctors did a biopsy of her and found a small hole in her stomach that was causing air to seep in, thus keeping her in an unstable condition.
This flaw was corrected and I finally got to see her following the operation. The nurse, I'll never forget her, said that Kryslyn was in a coma (because of the surgery) and would most likely remain in a vegetable
state for the rest of her life and it would be wise if my brother and sister-in-law just gave up on her. But they refused...saying that Kryslyn was their child and God had blessed them with her and they would
take her in whatever condition she was in.
On July 9, 1996, Kryslyn was well enough to go home. I think she weighed all of about 3 pounds then, and had only grown about an inch, but at least she was out of the hospital and basically has a clean bill of health.
May 13, 001 marked her fifth year here. She is now in kindergarten, which is amazing to me. She was in special education preschool, but is now in "regular" kindergarten. She's not stupid, just delayed a little. She's actually smart as a whip, just like her Aunt Joy *smile* Even when she does weird things...
You can tell we're related.
Here's your spot kid....
Love,

Aunt Slappy
I've really got to work on this scanning stuff....
