A Child's Portrait of God!
Toddlers and young children see their parents as having divine qualities. Parents that are regularly available to their children appear to be all powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere all the time. When parents realize that children often transfer how they view thier parents to how they see God, they will understand the awesome responsibility they have as parents.
It is important that parents give thier kids a positive understanding of God by being loving, caring, but also concerned about obedience and respect during the early years. Parents are the only picture of God little ones can comprehend. If parents are gone most of the time, what does this communicate about God? If parents are harsh, critical, and never satisfied with their child's behaviour, what does this communicate about God? The picture that children receive of God from their parents will influence them to some extent throughtout life.
