Tom was born in Ottawa.  After a short while, he and his parents moved to Leeds, England. Four years later, they moved back to Canada. 

Tom started Joydrop when he proposed the concept of starting a band to Tony Rabalao. He then called up Thomas Payne and asked him to talk about music. He agreed to join the band after looking through some songs. They then needed a singer. They put an ad in Now (a Toronto Arts and Entertainment Newspaper.)  That's when they met Tara Slone. She auditioned and got the position. Joydrop was now complete.
