This site is to celebrate the music of Joy Division.
The launch of this site was May 18th, 2000,
which marked the 20th anniversary of Ian Curtis' suicide.
The original purpose of this site and contributions herein was to be solely for members of the original Joy Division fan club on yahoo, that was founded September 30th, 1998, to be able to pay tribute however possible through artistic expression and to be able to discover bands who interpreted the music of Joy Division by offering their versions for free.
The need for additional bands & songs became apparant and was greeted with a reworked site in February of 2001, and a campaign for songs from various influenced & interested artists of all genres. The site now includes individual band pages with images and/or banners with links to their websites or music pages, locations, and a photo if available.
If anyone is in a band, or knows someone who is, and would be interested in contributing to this site, please go to the song submission page to learn more about how to participate. The best case scenario would be that enough music would become available and that an actual CD would be justified in printing if legalities with all copyright owners could be worked out.
The music of Joy Division has never been surpassed and never will be.
The lyrics of Ian Curtis are timeless.
