Off we went to harvest two Christmas trees from our local forest!  It was going to storm the next day, so we HAD to get the trees FAST!
We found a nice grove of trees, but they were so squished together, many had flat sides.  Loads of "Charlie Brown" trees.  Also, they were down a steep hillside...hmmm could be tough!
After digging in our heels, we decended, my friend of 24 years.....Carol and I, not really thinking about the ascension!
I found a cute tree, with a nice shape right away!  It was light too!
The ONLY other tree with a nice shape was a BIG one!  We sawed and we sawed and sawed!
Carol was so proud of her sawing skills.
When we got near the middle it was sappy and so hard to push the saw.  It was not the right kind of saw, as Carol's husband took their tree saw to Montana with him...he is building a house there.  Huff, puff!
I had to stop and blow off the smoke after we finally got it cut.
It took us about 15 minutes to get this big one to the top of the slope....we would take one step up the hill and slide two steps down,  We had to say "one, two, three" and pull together to drag it 2 feet.
When we got it to the top, we drove the TRUCK TO IT!  Just picking it up to put it in the bed of the truck gave us hernias!
Mud on my hands, burrs in my shoes and pants and tree sap in my hair.
WHAT FUN!
Oh, by the way, Carol made me take the BIG tree.
Oh John!  Could you give me a hand?"  :-)
