Science - Simple Machines
Social Studies - Westward Expansion; Studying pioneers moving west along the Oregon Trail; researching a legendary westerner for an oral presentation the end of the month.
Math - fractions; percents; decimals. Here's a website with math activities geared for 5th graders by topic - a great review tool!
Reading - Grasshopper Summer
Writing - in progress: creating a new cereal, poetry, putting together writing and drawings from the year in a white book.
Spelling - New program was a hit with the students and will continue. A packet will come home on Monday for nightly practice of the spelling rule.
