"WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - 'The Real Deal' Damien Steele"
On November 18, 2000 at a UPW show, Steele received a match with none other than Christopher Daniels, the then-UPW World Heavyweight Champion, but Daniels won the bout and retained his title.
UPW Proving Ground (12/20/00): Steele fought the colossal Russian known simply as, "Staz" at UPW Proving Ground on December 20, 2000 for the number one contendership to the UPW Internet Title, but lost the match.
On June 21, 2001 at UPW Control, Steele, along with Mikey Henderson and Samoa Joe (playing the heels), received the distinct honor to compete against three members of the legendary Guerrero family - Chavo Jr., Chavo Sr. and Mando - in a six-man tag team match. The Guerreros won the bout via Disqualification when Steele lifted Chavo Jr., who had just suplexed Mikey, off of Mikey and then tossed the referee out of the ring. The ref recovered and called for a DQ win.
Big Ron Studd pinned Damien Steele, Mark E Mark, and Big Eddie Cool after each received a choke-slam. Luther Biggs was at ringside with Studd. (NWA Wildside; 3/18/00)
WWC also did a split in their top heel faction angle at their 2/28 show, in Caguas, as Jose Rivera Jr. got the boot by Bronco. Rivera, the Puerto Rican champion, lost a non-title match to Joe Bravo after getting DDTd on a chair. Bronco entered the ring afterward and chewed out Rivera. Rivera decked him, then held off several heels who tried to run in. The heels then outnumbered him, and Rivera took a beating and juiced. The commission and several referees eventually broke it up. Rivera did a stretcher job. The heels tossed Riveras bags out of their locker room. Rico Suave hit Rivera with the title belt and then tossed that out too.
Sabu worked the final match of the night against Son of Jason, who does the Jason Voorhees gimmick that was huge in Puerto Rico in the late 80s. Carmen interfered, hitting Sabu with a kendo stick. Sabu stole the stick and hit Carmen, taking her out. He then pulled out a nail and worked over Jason, who bled. Sabu later went to the back and pulled out two light bulbs, which he used on Jason as well. He got the pin after throwing fire at Jason. This was reportedly the best match of the night.
Former Milwaukee Brewer Angel Chimillon Miranda, whos done some indy wrestling in New Hampshire before, beat Bronco by countout. They fought to the back afterward. The Shane Twins had been advertised for the weekend tour but werent there. Mike Shane is out with an arm injury, so perhaps thats why. Damien Steel and Agente Bruno subbed for them.
WWC results from 3/20/04 in the semi main event:
- Super Gladiador & Chimilon Miranda d. Agente Bruno & Damien Steele: The baseball player turned wrestler takes the place of the injured Vengador Boricua in this match. The end comes as Bruno gets Miranda's own baseball bat and tries to hit him, but Miranda blocks the shot by grabbing the bat. A tug of war ensues, but Gladiador breaks it by grabbing Bruno from behind and nailing the Full Nelson Slam for the win.
