CAREER HIGHLIGHTS/HISTORY
- Childhood - Grimes was always a great athlete (he was a
great football player, and even a shoot wrestler, at one point)
- Grimes followed pro wrestling as a chhild and looked up to
several wrestlers (see above).
- As a teen, Grimes' father asked him wwhat he wanted to do with
his life, and Grimes said he wanted to become a wrestler. His
father understood, saying that if that's what Grimes wanted to
do, then he'd support that decision. Grimes' father helped his
son find a local training school, which he soon enrolled in.
- Grimes started training in March 19955 each week at California's
"All Pro Wrestling (APW) Superstars Training Center"
(now known as "The APW Boot Camp"). One of his
trainers, Michael Modest, who's currently one of the top indy
grapplers in the business, saw Grimes' potential and started
working with him as much as possible. Grimes also was trained by
Dory Funk Jr., Manny Fernandez, Matthew Hyson (Spike Dudley), and
Roland Alexander at the APW school. He began training in January
1995.
- Grimes soon debuted in APW under the name,
("Vicious") Vic Grimes, the same alias he competed
under throughout his entire APW tenure. His usual repertoire
repertoire included several innovative and high-risk moves, a
style that earned him much accord in the California wrestling
region. He made his pro debut in APW in either 1995 or early 1996
(I'm not sure which). The following are results to his APW
matches (unless noted; otherwise, they occurred at joint APW-BTW
shows):
- 1/11/96 in Turlock, CA: Donovan Morgaan won a 15-man Elimination
Battle Royal by eliminating Vic Grimes, making Grimes the
runner-up. Later that night in the semi-main event, Grimes pinned
El Flamingo after a Superbomb.
- Gym Wars (9/5/96; Hayward, CA): The WWestside Connection (Jay
Smooth & Tony Jones) d. Vic Grimes & Jason C. Clay when
Jones pinned Grimes (15:41) after hitting his signature
Second-Rope Belly-to-Belly Overhead Suplex. Jay & Jones
retain their APW World Tag Team Titles. Later that same night, a
15-man Elimination Battle Royal was won by Maxx Justice. Grimes
survived down to the final four, and from there, the match was
decided in a "Pinfalls Count Anywhere Match." Maxx
eventually pinned Chris Cole (16:47) after hitting a Super
Gourdbuster.
- Gym Wars (12/14/96; Hayward, CA): Griimes pinned Donovan Morgan
(7:31) after countering an attempted Super Huracanrana into a
Superbomb.
- Gym Wars (1/4/97; Hayward, CA): Vic GGrimes d. Donovan Morgan in

very stiff match after hitting a Tilt-a-Whirl Powerbomb.
- Gym Wars (2/15/97; Hayward, CA): Robeert Thompson (C) pinned
Grimes after reversing an attempted backdrop into a DDT. This
match was very violent...Gym Wars (3/7/97; Hayward, CA): Vic
Grimes and Chris Cole fought to a No Contest when both men began
assaulting J.R. Benson, with Grimes eventually leaped 20 feet
down and somersault splashed Benson through a table. The match
also saw Grimes throw Cole off of a 30 foot high balcony down
into the ring. Luckily, Cole landed on the referee, who broke his
fall.
- 3/8/97 in Cupertino, CA: Robert Thomppson won a 15-man
Elimination Battle Royal. Vic Grimes was a participant. Also that
night, Donovan Morgan (w/ Brenda) d. Vic Grimes via DQ when the

after reversing an attempted spinning huracanrana into a

- Gym Wars (3/29/97; Hayward, CA): Vic Grimes and Mike Diamond
fought to a No Contest when referee Vinnie Massaro called for the
bell. Several other APW stars ran in during the bout and tried to
break the two up, but all were unsuccessful, so Massaro was
eventually forced to call for the no-decision.
- Big Time Wrestling (BTW) show (4/11/997; Freemont, CA) featuring
APW some stars: Vic Grimes pinned Chris Cole after a stiff
Powerbomb.
- Another BTW show (4/12/97; Stockton, CA) featuring some APW

the match until Donovan Morgan, Chris Cole, and Erin O' Grady
(The Leprachaun [he'd later become the WWF/E's "Crash
Holly"]) ran in and made the save.
- Gym Wars (6/20/97; Hayward, CA): In aa quarterfinal round match
of the tournament to crown a brand-new APW World Heavyweight

that same night, Grimes lost his semifinal match when he was
pinned by Michael Modest (13:29), who thereby advanced to the
finals of the tournament.
- Gym Wars (7/4/97; Hayward, CA): The LLeprachaun won a 13-man
Elimination Battle Royal (17:00) by hitting Grimes, the
runner-up, with a Springboard Swinging DDT. Later that same

Grimes hit Jay with a Powerbomb hold into a catching Grimes
Cutter and pinned him and Dick hit a Grimes Cutter on Jones and
pinned him (3:53).
- Night of the Return Match (10/3/97; HHayward, CA): The Grimes
Brothers d. Rick Turner & Tony Jones in a Best 2/3 Falls
Match (14:43) to retain their APW World Tag Team Titles.
- May 1998: For one night in APW, Grimees played the role of Vic
Murdoch.
- 10/9/1998 in San Jose, CA: Maxx Justiice and Vic Grimes fought
to a No Contest for Maxx's APW Universal Title. Grimes actually
won the match and the title, but APW Senior Referee J.J. Perez
restarted the match, and it eventually ended in a No Contest.
Michael Modest served as the match's Special Guest Referee. Maxx
retains his title due to the no decision.
- Gym Warz - "The Night All Hell BBroke Loose"
(10/10/98): Vic Grimes & Robert Thompson d. Maxx Justice
& Jimmy Ripp via pinfall in a "Pinfalls Count Anywhere,
No Rules, No DQ, Tornado Tag Team Match" when Grimes pinned
Justice.
- At about this time, J.R. Benson, one of Grimes' APW friends,
sent in a tape of several of Vic's matches to ECW, but somehow
the tape got into the hands of WWF talent scout Tom Pritchard,
then his brother, Bruce, and then managerial legend Jim Cornette,
who ended up being considerably impressed. Cornette called Grimes
up, and Grimes thought it was a joke, so he hung up, thinking
that it was his friend, Frank Murdoch. Jim Cornette called him
back and finally got out an introduction. After some talks
between the two, Cornette got Grimes a tryout match. These are
the rest of Grimes' APW resutls before heading to the WWF and its
developmental territories:
- Halloween Hell (10/31/97; Hayward, CAA): Grimes pins Tony Jones
(9:14) after hitting the Face Eraser (Inverted Powerbomb).
- Final Friday (11/7/97; Hayward, CA): Elijah Wisdom, Tony Jones,
& Truth d. Rick Thompson & The Grimes Brothers (10:32).
Also on this show, The Grimes Brothers are stripped of the APW
Tag Team Titles.

Jones d. Vic Grimes & Erin O'Grady in 24:13 when Tony hit
O'Grady with a Belly-to-Back Suplex to retain the APW World Tag
Team Titles.
- Turn Back The Clock (4/3/98; Hayward,, CA): Michael Modest &
Tony Jones and Vic Grimes & Boyce LeGrande fought to a No
Contest (13:46) when Grimes turned on LeGrande. Modest/Jones

Lynn, MA): George Martin & Andrew Phillips vs. Grimes &

Daddy" Jimmy Ripp via a Press Slam into a Face Eraser (**).
- APW (9/25/98; Hayward, CA): wrestled Jardi Frantz, who was
making his APW debut.
- Gym Warz: "Halloween Hell 2: Thee Last Dance At The
Garage" (10/30/1998; Hayward, CA): Grimes and The
Leprachaun, appearing at their last APW show ever, fought to a No
Contest (in the night's opener) when they fought off some common
enemies who had interfered and then hugged eachother and made up.
Later, in that night's main event, Grimes was pinned by Robert
Thompson. That night's closing ceremonies saw several wrestlers
call Grimes and Leprachaun out, which both did, and pay tribute
to them by speaking positively of them and thanking them for the
years they gave to APW. Grimes now looked to be ready for the
big-time.
- Also sometime in APW during 10/98: Loongtime rivals Grimes &
Robert Thompson def. Maxx Justice & Jimmy Ripp in a Tornado
Streetfight Match.
- NWA 50th Anniversary Show (sometime iin 10/98): Giant Silva won
a WWF Dojo Battle Royal in 8:00. The order of elimination, from
first to last, was Devon Storm, Grimes, Christian, Steve Corino,
and finally Shawn Stasiak.
- MPPW (Saturday, 1/16/99; WMC-TV Studiios in Memphis, TN): main
event saw Grimes def. Erin O'Grady (Crash Holly/The Leprachaun).
- Grimes was now ready for his WWF tryoout match, which pitted him
against fellow APW veteran Erin O' Grady, and it took place
before the February 20, 1999 edition of the WWF's syndicated TV
show, "RAW is WAR." The show occurred at Davis College
in California. The match was actually only intended for Vic and
when he was asked to bring someone whom he felt made him
look his best in the ring, he chose O' Grady.
Although the bout was a "dark match" and not televised,
both men worked their butts off, as expected. The WWF scouting
team were impressed with the match that they were told that it
was the best tryout match the company had had in about five
years. Both men were developmental contracts to work in Memphis,
Tennessee, and hopefully one day become a full-time member of the
WWF roster. Both men readily agreed to sign, and they were told
that that was the first time in 10 years that both men who worked
a tryout match received developmental contracts with the company.
- Grimes impressed the officials in Memmphis, too, with his
innovative, high-risk style, quickly rising as a top superstar in
the WWF's developmental territory. Grimes would wrestle a young
Kurt Angle several times during his WWF developmental tenure.
During his tenure in Memphis, Grimes lived and traveled with
fellow developmental wrestler Erin O' Grady, who later equated
living with Grimes to living in a dumpster behind a supermarket.
- Grimes also worked at "The Funkiing Dojo" (currently
located in Ocala, FL) at the WWF's Titan Towers Headquarters in
Stamford, CT during this time. The program was ran by Dory Funk,
Jr., a legend in pro wrestling. Grimes trained alongside several
future successful grapplers, including Kurt Angle.
- Grimes worked in Power Pro Wrestling in Memphis for awhile
during his WWF developmental training tenure. These were his
career highlights during his time in PPW:
- 5/20/99 (Memphis, TN): Erin O'Grady && Vic Grimes d. Kid
Wikkid & Derrick King (c's) to win the PPW Tag Team Titles.
- 4/3/99 (Jonesboro, Arkansas): Kid Wikkkid & Derrick King d.
Erin O'Grady & Vic Grimes (c's) to regain the PPW Tag Team
Titles.
- 6/5/99 (Memphis, TN): Vic Grimes d. KKid Wikkid (c) to win the
PPW Young Guns Title.
- 6/12/99 (Memphis, TN): Kid Wikkid d. Vic Grimes (c) to regain
the PPW Young Guns Title.
- 7/3/99 (Memphis, TN): Vic Grimes d. KKid Wikkid (c) to regain
the PPW Young Guns Title.
- 7/19/99 (Memphis, TN): Steve Bradley d. Vic Grimes (C) to win
the PPW Young Guns Title.
- 9/8/99 (Memphis, TN): Vic Grimes d. SSteve Bradley (c) to win
the PPW Heavyweight Title.
- 9/25/99 (Memphis, TN): Steve Bradley d. Vic Grimes (c) to
regain the PPW Heavyweight Title.
- About six months after signing a deveelopmental contract, Grimes
was offered him a full-time WWF contract, which he readily agreed
upon.
- Grimes debuted in the WWF under the nname, "Key." He
aligned himself with Droz and Prince Albert, and the three played
a "drug dealer"-like gimmick. He interfered in a Sunday
Night HeAT match featuring The Godfather, and began a very short
feud with the WWF's resident "pimp," but plans for the
rivalry to grow were immediately scrapped when Godfather was
injured, and therefore had to get surgery, which caused him to
take a few months off.
- WWF Shotgun (aired 8/14/99): Droz, Prrince Albert, & Key
def. Cody Hawk, Bret Keene, & Anthony McMurphy when Key makes
the pin just a minute or two in after hitting an Inverted
Crucifix Powerbomb into Sitout Michinoku Driver II-style Slam.
- Grimes was sent to ECW in late '99 byy the WWF in order to help
him gain more experience. Upon entering ECW, Grimes (who wrestled
as both "Grimes" [for his first few months] and
"Vic Grimes" [for the rest of his ECW tenure]) joined a
heel stable called "Da' Baldies," which - at the time -
included The Skull/Skull Von Krush/Vito Lograsso (Big Vito in
WCW), P.N. News (the former-WCW fat rapper reject; only was a
Baldie member for a few months, as he left ECW somewhere around
very late '99 or early '00), Spanish Angel, and Tony DeVito.
Angel and DeVito regularly tag teamed together.
- Late '99, Da' Baldies feuded with Axll Rotten, Balls Mahoney,
and New Jack, challenging the trio in various matchup
combinations. The following are Grimes' notable ECW house show
match results:
- 12/24/99; Nashville, TN: Grimes and tthe rest of Da' Baldies
team up with The Impact Players (Justin Credible & Lance
Storm) to, in a non-official match, beat the hell out of the
World Tag Team Champions, Raven & Tommy Dreamer (aired
12/24/99 on ECW On TNN).
- 2/25/00; Toledo, OH: New Jack pinned Grimes.
- 3/3/00; Asbury Park, NJ: Balls Mahoneey pins Grimes to win the
first-ever Exploding Board Death Match in the history of the
United States. The finish comes when Balls powerbombs Grimes
onto a non-exploding board.
- ECW Living Dangerously '00 PPV (3/12//00; Danbury, CT): an
impromptu handicap "Danbury Streetfight" tag team match
pitted Da' Baldies (Angel, DeVito, and Grimes) against New Jack
and Balls Mahoney. After a short in-ring fight that features two
crutches, a Playstation system, aguitar, and a pizza-cutter being
used, Grimes and Jack brawl into the crowd. Grimes sets up two
tables on top of eachother, and they then continue exchanging
blows, all the while climbing up a scaffolding piece. Both men
meet at the top, and after some exchanges, Jack throws Grimes off
the edge, but Grimes holds onto Jack's arm and pulls him off,
too. Both men fly 35 feet down and barely make contact with the
tables. The tables barely break their fall, as the 350+ lb.
Grimes lands on Jack's arm and head! EMT's drag Grimes away just
as we fade out to some crowd shots and then a graphic featuring
upcoming ECW live events. The match was ruled a No Contest. In
the August 2001 edition of "World Of
Wrestling Magazine," Jack
discussed the incident:
"Vic Grimes, the big stupid-ass, called a spot (during a match at Living Dangerously). He wanted us to go off this scaffolding that was very unstable. I asked him had he checked it out. He said 'yeah,' but he hadn't. He didn't want to do it after he got up there; he said it was too high. I said, 'Vic - pay-per-view. Let's go.' He said, 'Jack, it's too high. I can't do it.' So I just statched him, and we fell. The first table broke my fall, and he did a flip in the air and his back ran up against my head, and my head hit the floor. From that alone, I broke my leg, broke my right arm, cracked by sternum, cracked my skull, and lost my sight. I was laid up for a long time after that one, and I still came back."
The Danbury incident earned both (Jack more so) some legitimate heat toward eachother. Paul Heyman wouldn't allow them to work with eachother for fear that they'd get into a legitimate fight. In an interview in the July 2001 issue of "RAMPAGE Wrestling Magazine," Jack had virtually the same story:
"Vic Grimes - I got hurt coming off the scaffold with him in Danbury, Connecticut. I lost my sight for about five months. I broke my arm, my leg, and cracked my sternum. After that happened, Paul E. wouldn't put us in the ring together because he knew that eventually I was going to kill Vic because the angle was something Vic wanted to do. And I asked if he had gone up the scaffold to check it out, and he told me he did, but actually he didn't. When we went up there to go through these two tables on the floor, he said, 'Jack, I can't do it. It's too high.' And I said, 'Man, you're gonna' do it. This is a Pay-Per-View.' So, I just grabbed him and pulled him off, and he landed on me and my head hit the floor. So I almost killed myself and wasn't too happy about it.
- 3/17/00; Worchester, MA: Balls beats Grimes.
- 3/24/00; Salem, NH: Tommy Dreamer pinns Grimes
(w/ DeVito & Angel) in a "New Hampshire
Streetfight" when Grimes misses a Flying Senton Bomb and
Dreamer schoolboys him for the pin (aired 3/24/00 on ECW On TNN).
Another highlight of the bout was when Dreamer leaped off of a
scaffold and splashed Grimes through a table.
- ECW On TNN (aired 4/7/00; Richmond, VVA): In a 3-on-2 Handicap
Match, Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman d. DeVito, Grimes,
& Angel when Raven interferes, DDT's DeVito, and pins him to
apparently win the match for Dreamer & Sandman.
- 4/21/00: "The CEO of Hardcore&quuot; gets married.
- 5/26/00 (Toledo, OH): Kid Kash pins <Grimes via
a rollup (aired 6/2/00 on ECW Hardcore TV [on TNN]); This match
is Grimes' own all-time favorite match of his.
- 5/27/00; Columbus, OH: Kash, Nova, &aamp; Chetti d. Angel,
DeVito, & Grimes (last ECW match).
- Grimes other opponents in ECW includeed Masato Tanaka and Nova.
- In July 2000, the WWF released Grimess, along with Brian Heffron
(a.k.a. The Blue Meanie/The Blue Boy), from his developmental
contract in July 2000. Grimes was told that they didn't have a
place for him on the roster. In his 6/30/00 Ross Report edition,
Jim Ross wrote: "Vic Grimes and The Blue Meanie have both
been released. I hope both these young men don't give up because
I do feel that in time they both can contribute a great deal to
the product/business in the right environment. They are both good
people."
- Grimes decides to go to Southern Caliifornia's Xtreme
Professional Wrestling (or XPW, for short) around the turn of the
year (from 2000 to 2001). It's owner, Rob Black, runs Extreme
Associates, a pornography video producing company. His wife,
Lizzy Borden (a porn actress), assists him in running both
companies. Also in the "RAMPAGE" interview, Jack said
the following:
"When Vic heard I was coming to XPW, he said, 'Oh shit, no,' but when I got there, we sat down and talked about it and we worked it out."
- As Jack said, both men sat down in early 2001 and discussed
their heat and the incident that caused it. While both still
didn't like eachother, they were back on the same page enough so
that they could at least work with eachother in the ring.
- Jack debuted in XPW at New Year's Revvolution I (1/13/01; L.A.,
CA) by running in during the main event, and as expected, he was
clearly a huge face.
- XPW Payback's A Bitch (2/3/01): New JJack interrupted a promo by
Black and his wife, Lizzy Borden. Jack entered the ring, and a
pizza-cutter dug through the canvas behind him, and out crawled VIC
GRIMES! Grimes, who hadn't seen in the ring Jack
since the ECW scaffolding incident (in storyline) (and vice
versa) more than a half-year before, blindsided Jack and bashed a
guitar over his head! The Black Army, Black's heel stable ran in
and helped Grimes pummel Jack. Grimes eventually left alongside
Black's "army." That night's main event saw Grimes,
teaming with Messiah, debut in XPW with a tag team loss to
Homeless Jimmy and XPW's World Champion, Sabu. After the bout,
New Jack's music hit. Black's army scattered out through the
crowd, but Grimes wasn't fast enough. Jack entered the ring and,
after a slugfest, used his signature staple gun to staple
a dollar bill to Grimes'
forehead!.
- At My Bloody Valentine 2 (2/24/01, Reeseda, CA), XPW held their
second annual King of the Deathmatch tournament. The winner of
the single-elimination tourney would receive a shot at The
Messiah's XPW King of the Deathmatch Title. In the first-round,
Grimes defeated fellow Black Army member Kraq in a "Beds of
Nails And Barbed-Wire Deathmatch." In the semifinals, he
pinned Homeless Jimmy in a "Beds of Barbed-Wire, Glass,
& Light Bulbs Deathmatch!" In the final round, Grimes
faced Supreme in a "No-Rope, Barbed-Wire, Beds of Glass,
Nails, Thumbtacks, & Light Bulbs Deathmatch" with no
time limit. After a violent gorefest, Grimes, with Rob Black's
help, pins Supreme to win the tournament! Grimes was then
supposed to receive a K.O.T.D.M. title shot against fellow Black
Army member The Messiah. After some verbal exchanges, Messiah
lightly touched the head of Grimes, who then layed down on the
mat, allowing Messiah to pin him and retain his title! Grimes
rose back up and celebrated with his chronies, just as Supreme,
and then New Jack, entered. Jack and Supreme eventually sent The
Black Army scrambling backstage.
- XPW The Night XPW Stood Still (3/17/001, Van Nuys, CA): New
Jack's challenge from the previous show was agreed upon, as the
main event saw "The Original Gangsta'" team with
Supreme against The Messiah and Vic Grimes. Everybody brawled
throughout the arena, and in the end, Rob Black lit two ringside
tables on fire, and in the end, New
Jack's shirt, Lizzy Borden's, and Grimes' clothes were all set on
fire! With Grimes on fire in the ring, Black sprayed the whole
ring, which also had Supreme in it, with a fire extinguisher,
smoking up the whole ring area. Nobody could see what was
happening inside of the smoke, but a three count was heard and
the bell was rung. After the show, a statement was released
saying that in the midst of all of the chaos, Grimes managed to
drape an arm over Supreme, which prompted the three count to be
made. The referee lifted the nearest arm, which was Supreme.
Messiah and Grimes, though, were eventually announced as the
winners (after the show ended).
- XPW Scene of the Crime (4/21/01, L.A.., CA): Supreme had Grimes
beat in their match, but The Black Army ran out, broke up the
pin, pummeled Supreme, and helped Grimes get the pinfall win. As
the army celebrates, New Jack's music hits and he enters. He and
Supreme fight off the army, but the brawl quickly moves into the
crowd, which is where Jack climbs to the top of a 20-foot ladder
and leaps off out of nowhere, taking out everybody
- XPW Rapture (7/7/01, L.A., CA): Formeer-five-time ECW World
Heavyweight Champion The Sandman ran in and fought off some heels
who were attacking former-WCW beauty Major Gunns. Afterwards, he
and Gunns celebrated with tons of beer. After a 15-minute
intermission, Sandman again came out, this time with a ladder. He
calls out Rob Black, but Vic Grimes is the one that comes out! A
bout occurs and Sandman eventually pins Grimes
- XPW Damage Inc. (8/25/01, L.A. CA): aa single-elimination,
eight-man tournament is held to determine the inaugural XPW
Television Champion. In the first round, Grimes beat Leroy with a
Dominator. In the semifinals, though, The Black Army came running
out and beat down Konnan during his match with Grimes. Konnan
therefore advanced to the final round due to his DQ win.
- Big Time Wrestling (9/28/01; Newark PPavillion; Newark, CA):
"Perfect" Perry Douglas (Altar Boy Luke) vs. Vic Grimes
- Big Time Wrestling (9/29/01; Delta Sppeedway; Stockton, CA):
"Perfect" Perry Douglas (Altar Boy Luke) &
"Bulldog" Brian Raymond vs. "Irresistible"
Jason Styles & Dash Riprock.
- At Halloween In Hell 2 (10/13/01, Picco Rivera, CA), the last of
the night's triple main event saw Supreme and Grimes go at it for
the vacant XPW King of the Deathmatch Title in a "Exploding
Ring Deathmatch," the first Exploding Ring
Deathmatch ever held in the U.S. Barbed-wire beds would be in
various areas in and around the ring, and some would be explosive
ones. If nobody won the match before the time limit expired, the ring
would EXPLODE with both men still
in it! In the end, Supreme hit a running (non-top-rope) Mekka
Toad Splash onto a barbed-wire wrapped Grimes, who was also laid
out on a barbed-wire bed. Supreme covers and gets the 1-2-3 win
to capture the vacant K.O.D.M. Title...XPW Retribution (11/25/01;
L.A., CA), Grimes pinned former-WCW'er Psichosis after nailing a
powerbomb into a midair cutter. Afterwards, New Jack's music
hits, and he enters the ring. After some words on the mic by
Jack, a match ensues, and after every single weapon in the book
was utilized, Grimes ended up pinning Jack after putting him
through a table with a Flying Splash.
- FMW (1/5/02; Osaka Prefectural Gym #22): Grimes & Paul DeLuc
d. Gurentai (NOSAWA & Mitsunobu Kikuzawa) when Grimes pinned
Kikuzawa (14:59).
- FMW PPV (1/6/02; Tokyo, Japan's Korakkuen Hall): Grimes &
ECW alumnis Balls Mahoney & The Sandman d. FMW's Tetsuhiro
Kuroda, Mr. Gannosuke, & Mammoth Sasaki (11:21).
- XPW New Year's Revolution II (1/12/022; L.A., CA): the opener
saw New Jack and Grimes do battle. After an in-ring gorefest
featuring every weapon in the book, the two brawled up to the top
of a 35-foot high balcony. Jack eventually ended up hanging off
the balcony edge by one arm, so Grimes started hammering him
until he dropped off. Jack fell off the 35-foot high balcony and
crashes through eight tables (!). The
match was ruled a No Contest. Jack is helped out by EMT's.
- 2/2/02 edition of XPW TV): a promo aiirs of New Jack at his own
house. Jack reminds everybody of his past history with Grimes,
and he then shocks everybody by challenging "The Vicious
One" to a 40-foot high scaffold match in L.A. on January
12th, the date of XPW's next show. If Grimes doesn't die, he'll
be wishing he did because of what's gonna' happen to him.
- XPW begins hyping a "Freefall Maatch" for their 1/12
show, which will be entitled "Freefall." Not only that,
though - Jack has supposedly sworn that he'll retire
from pro wrestling if he loses! This causes many
internet sites to assume that he'll lose the match due to his
doctors supposedly suggesting that his body is starting to break
down.
- FMW (2/3/02; Osaka Method Event Park Hall #2): Sabu d. Grimes
and The Sandman in a thriple-threat match when he pins Grimes
(13:08).
- FMW Pay-Per-View (2/4/02; Tokyo, Japaan's Korakuen Hall; this
would end up being the promotion's last Pay-Per-View, for it'd go
bankrupt within the next moth or so): Kintaro Kanemura, Mammoth
Sasaki, & GOEMON d. Grimes, Paul DeLuc, & Mitsunobu
Kikuzawa via pinfall (20:16).
- XPW Freefall (2/23/02; L.A., CA;): thhe long-awaited
"Freefall Match" between Jack and Grimes occurred. The
scaffold was 40 feet above the ring, as promised, and the ring
was stacked with a four tables long by four tables wide by four
tables high. The two men eventually brawl up onto the top of the
scaffold. After a slugfest, Jack hammers Grimes so that he's a
few feet from the edge. All of a sudden, "The Original
Gangsta'" pulls out a tazer and zaps
Grimes! A loud "zap!" sound was heard and much of the
scaffold is now all smoky. Grimes falls onto the scaffold
surface, now right on the edge. Jack picks him up and - Jack
tosses him off!!! In one of the sickest bumps ever, Grimes is
thrown off the scaffold and tumbles 40 feet down. On his descent,
he crashes through two of tables, and then tumbles into the
ropes, getting tied up in it! Meanwhile, Jack is up top, and has
the tazer in his hand! XPW officials tell fans in attendance to
get the hell out of the building, as Grimes is probably seriously
injured. Even if he was, the fact stood: New Jack had won the New
Jack/Vic Grimes feud.
- Big Time Wrestling (4/20/??; San Josee, CA) - Vic Grimes vs.
Perry Douglas (Altar Boy Luke).
- XPW Genocide (4/27/02; L.A., CA): XPWW commentator Kris Kloss
came out and introduced Grimes, who circled the ring and slapped
the fans' hands before entering the ring. He took the mic from
Kloss and thanked the fans for their support. After some more
words, former-WCW Cruiserweight star Evan Karagias (who was
scheduled to have a mystery opponent) comes out and insults
Grimes, prompting a match to start. In the end, Grimes countered
an attempted hurricanrana with the Victimizer 2.0 (the debut of
this move in XPW) to get the 1-2-3 win over Karagias. Later that
same night occurred the main event, which was a five-on-five
Wargames Match that would be fought in a steel cage. It pitted
The Black Army vs. The Enterprise. At one point, Supreme came out
and attacked The Enterprise, which prompted Grimes to also come
out. Grimes didn't target Supreme, though, and instead helped
Supreme attack The Enterprise, and after most of The Enterprise
had been layed out, Supreme shocked everyone by shaking hands and
hugging various army members, including his former arch-enemy,
Grimes. As the show ended, it became apparent that Supreme had
sold out and turned heel by joining the army.
- Supreme Pro Wrestling (6/8/02; Sacrammento, CA): Grimes no-shows
his scheduled appearance due to a family emergency.
- XPW Liberty or Death (6/29/02; Pico RRivera, CA): Steve Rizzono
and Scott Snott fought in the opening match. Early in, Grimes ran
in and absolutely demolished both wrestlers. All of a sudden,
though, a lookalike of TOOL (a former-XPW wrestler who had
appeared on the previous week's XPW TV and was hyped to be at the
show) ran in and began brawling with Grimes. Snuff (who the TOOL
lookalike was later identified as; he was accompanied to the ring
by his manager, J.R. Benson, the same guy who played a big part
in getting Grimes his WWF job) and Grimes brawled with eachother
in the ring and made for a fine match. After a brief brawl in the
crowd, the two re-entered the ring, which was where Snuff
delivered a Super Chokeslam for the 1-2-3 win. Also at L.O.D.,
The Altar Boys, comprised of Luke & Matthew, debuted as
participants in the first round of the XPW World Tag Team Title
Tournament. While they lost to AWC & Shady, the high flying
duo turned many heads and gained lots of attention. Grimes was
responsible for training Luke and - along with Pogo the Clown -
helping him get in contact with XPW.
- Sometime in mid-2002, most likely Jully: Big Time Wrestling
(Newark, CA) - The main event was Balls Mahoney vs. Grimes. They
started the match amateur-style, but quickly degenerated into a
No Contest riot.
- XPW Night of Champions (7/20/02; Picoo Rivera, CA): Grimes made
a challenge prior to the event for a rematch against the
monsterous Snuff. The challenge was accepted, and the bout was a
"Pinfalls Count Anywhere Match." Snuff was again
accompanied by J.R. Benson. Grimes seemed to have the match well
in hand until Benson interfered, allowing Snuff to whip Grimes
into a bed of light bulbs (on the outside). Snuff pinned him for
the 1-2-3 right there on the outside (thanks to the above
stipulation), picking up his second straight win over Grimes.
This made the new monster 2-0 in XPW.
- CWA (7/28/02): Grimes pins Billy Bladde.
- 8/16/02: Anthony DeBlasi of Wrestling-News.com
conducted a shoot interview with Grimes, and Grimes discussed
tons of things about his career, including XPW Hostile Takeover,
XPW's reputation, Rob Black, his favorite stars growing up, his
start in the business, his training, Erin O' Grady (a.k.a. Crash
Holly), his infamous fall at Free Fall, his ECW tenure, his
tryout match with the WWF, his WWF developmental tenure, his
matches vs. Kurt Angle, his ECW tenure, leaving ECW for XPW, and
more.
- CWA "SummerTime Bruise" (8//18/02; Nipoma, CA): Grimes
pins protege and fellow-XPW star Altar Boy Luke, who was revealed
as Grimes' mystery opponent.
- XPW Hostile Takeover (8/31/02; Vikingg Hall [Philadelphia, PA]):
Grimes d. Altar Boy Luke and the debuting Little Guido in a
Three-Way Elimination Match. Luke was eliminated first when he
was was forced to submit by a double-team submission hold by both
Grimes and Guido. Grimes later pinned Guido to win the bout. This
was - as of then - undoubtedly the greatest three-way match in
XPW history and was Guido's only XPW appearance ever.
- CWA (9/29/02): Grimes pins Christopheer Daniels in a CWA Match
of the Year candidate.
- XPW Fallout (10/5/02; Viking Hall [Phhiladelphia, PA]): Grimes
pins former-NWA World Heavyweight Champion Malice (formerly WCW's
A-WOL/The Wall); Malice was the same guy who, under a mask,
played the character of SNUFF, who Grimes had lost to at XPW
L.O.D. and N.O.C. just a few months before. Unlike his tenure as
SNUFF, Malice was not accompanied by J.R. Benson. After the bout,
Grimes cut a derogatory promo about NWA-TNA, which Malice had
helped get off of it's feet when it was first launched by Jerry
and Jeff Jarrett.
- APW Halloween In Hell (10/25/02): Mixxed Tag Team Match - Nikki

retain his XPW World Heavyweight Title.
- APW Gym Wars (12/22/03; Hayward, CA):: Grimes calls APW
Universal Champion Larry Blackwell of the Blackout Army out to
the ring and praises him for how much he's accomplished in such a
short amount of time in APW, but then blindside him, attacking
him with a turkey when he's not looking. Later on that night,
Melissa and Nikki wrestled in a Women's Match. J.R. Benson and
Blackwell - both at ringside - continued to interfere on
Melissa's part, until Grimes ran in and evened up the odds and
eventually helped Nikki to win the match. Post-match, Grimes
fought off attacks from Blackout Army members Kryptonite, James
Watkins, and finally J.R. Benson. Grimes then tossed Kryptonite
off the balcony of the APW Garage, causing him to take out his
fellow Blackout Army members - Melissa, Watkins, and Benson!
Grimes then takes a microphone, and vows to go through whoever he
needs to in order to get a shot at Blackwell and his Universal
Title.

CA): Robert Thompson pins Grimes to retain his APW Universal

religious figure. He allies with Salem.

(w/ Lucy Grimes): Grimes pins Salem.
- XPW Battle of the 'Burgh (3/8/03; Pitttsburgh, PA): Grimes pins

Salem, thereby beginning Grimes' second straight match of the
night. Salem eventually pins Grimes.
- Pro Wrestling Iron (6/6/03; Riverbankk, CA): Grimes, "The
Bisontennial" Bison Smith, Frank Murdoch, and Bart Blaxson
won a 15-Man Elimination Battle Royal to earn spots in the
one-night, four-man tournament to crown the inaugural PWI
International Wrestling Champion (IWC) the next night. However,

- PWI (6/7/03; Angels Camp, CA): ";The Bisontennial"
Bison Smith def. Grimes via submission in a First Round match to
advance to the Final Round of a one-night, four-man tournament to

d. long-time rival Robert Thompson in a Retirement Match to force
Thompson to retire from pro wrestling.
- APW Central Coast (6/22/03; Nipoma, CCA): Grimes won a 20-Man
Battle Royal. Later on that same night, Grimes & B-Boy teamed
up in a four corners elimination tag team match, which was
undoubtedly the Match of the Night. Grimes & B-Boy eliminated
James Choi & Jardi Frantz. The Ballard Brothers eliminated
B-Boy & Grimes. The S.A.T. eliminated The Ballard Brothers.

Grady, a guy who he has real-life heat with dating back to their
APW days). Also on the show, Grimes beat Dynamite D (w/ J.R.
Benson) and Vinnie Massaro in a three-way dance. Grimes also
brawled with Benson during the match. It was originally supposed
to be Altar Boy Luke vs. Kaos vs. Massaro vs. Grimes, but Luke
was stuck at a NAMBLA meeting, while Kaos' no-show wasn't given a
reason.

Fandango.
In APW, Grimes also played the role of "Cowboy" Frank Murdoch's cousin, Vic Murdoch.
APW: Three-Way Apocalypse Match: Rizzono vs. O'Grady vs. Grimes
Thompson defeated Grimes four consecutive times through 1997 and 1998. Thompson was a perfect 4-0 versus Grimes prior to the BTW Bay Area Challenge match.
INTERESTING FACTS
Grimes played minor league football as a nose back for the San Francisco Chargers and also played for the Hayward Outlaws before beginning his pro wrestling career. He was injured while playing football (he got two "slipped discs"), so he turned to a grappling career, which he'd find far more success in. That's not to say, though, that his football career wasn't good, for most experts belived that he was one of the top 50 players in the state. When comparing it to pro wrestling, Grimes calls football a "pussy sport."

No one has terrorized his APW foes (and friends) more so than Vicious
Vic Grimes has.
Vic is a monstrous behemoth with massive power, great agility, a
tremendous arsenal of innovative holds and moves and he is ONE
CRAZY MOTHER !!!
Grimes' Halloween Hell terror began back in 1997, at the
inaugural Halloween Hell. Grimes defeated The Shooter Tony
Jones with a wicked and devastating Face Eraser. Check out the
APW video archives to see this amazing match! At that point
Grimes was just beginning his career and path to superstardom!
Flash Forward to 1998, Halloween Hell 2 at The APW Garage:
An 18-man Battle Royal, ending when Vic and Leprechaun
Erin 'O' Grady stopped fighting! These two, remember, were
the ones in 1998 who feuded EVERYWHERE, all the way down the
streets of Hayward, and they even ran each other over with cars
--- see "The Car Shot Heard Round The World" ... Later
on in that same show, Grimes suffered a defeat from The Brown
Bomber Robert Thompson. Thompson's Halloween Hell history is
EVEN greater and illustrious than Grimes'!!!
Grimes is known for literally KILLING JR Benson, as he did a
Grimessault onto him through a table, off of the Garage Door!!!
You never do know what Grimes will do!!!!! The TOY BOX is
LOADED with goodies, and Vic always finds unique ways to use
common everyday objects, mainly to inflict PAIN on his foes! Last
year, he found a use for Mata's baseball bat --- Kryptonite was
the fastball and Grimes was Barry Bonds ... he hit a homerun.
After a departure from APW, seeking greater success, traveling to
ECW, WWF and XPW, Grimes became known for his HARDCORE CRAZINESS!
Grimes was involved in BRUTAL madness with such men as Kaos, New
Jack, Sandman, Pogo the Clown, etc. Perhaps you recall Grimes and
his famous (or infamous?) Pizza Cutter?
Flashback to Halloween Hell 5 in 2002 at The APW Garage:
With the Blackout Army DOMINATING all of APW (the Army was
comprised of: Watkins, Blackwell, Melissa, Kafu, Kryptonite,
Brenda and JR Benson), Nikki was set for a mixed tag against Melissa
and Kryptonie with a mystery partner. No one would ever
have expected it, but VICIOUS VIC GRIMES returned to APW
at Halloween Hell 5 in 2002 to take out the trash and he marched
right through The Army ... Grimes single-handedly took out the
Army and he and Nikki claimed victory that amazing night!
Flash Forward to 2003, Halloween Hell 6, the TRADITION
returns to the APW Garage once again! Grimes is set to take on Super
Dragon in a CRAZY match (words ain't gonna do it justice!)
... These two had what many are praising as SO-Cal Match of the
Year, last weekend at APW:LA inaugural Halloween Hell show!
Grimes is known for his craziness and his innovation of violence!
Grimes returns to the APW Garage this Saturday night for Halloween
Hell 6 ... Be afraid, be very afraid, you NEVER do know what
THE VICIOUS ONE is thinking ...
What will Vic do? Can Super Dragon even survive this match up
with such a monster in his OWN playground of The APW Garage?
Folks, this is going to be a classic, be prepared for ANYTHING
... Less than one week until terror returns to the APW Garage, Halloween
Hell 6 this Saturday October 25th at 6 p.m.!!!
When asked who his favorite opponent is, Grimes mentions - among others - Al Snow.

"The Hardcore Homo" Angel was born on May 21, 1979.
SM: At Slammers who were your main trainers?
A: My main trainer was Carlos Torres, he was known here at Carlito Montana. I was also trained by El Toro Bravo. Although Vern Langdon never actually got in the ring, he would show us a few things, he would mostly tell us the inside story on how the business works, and stuff like that. So it was mostly those 3 guys, but Carlos was the one that mainly trained us.
SM: How was it like being trained by Carlito Montana?
A: Honestly, Slammers is like nothing I have ever seen, not even The Asylum come close to it. Slammers used to be known as The Pit, you go in there and come out sore, maybe like being in a mosh pit, getting the shit knocked out of you. Every Sunday afternoon, it would start from 9 12 no 10 IT WAS TWO HOURS LONG! I CANT REMEMBER ANYMORE. *laughs* I remember it started at 9 so Im sure it ended at 11, although sometimes we would stay there and talk but if you can compare it to anything, it would be more like Stu Harts Dungeon, they thought you a lot of grappling, and it was really stiff there. One of the stiffest rings Ive heard people talk about. An XPW ring is very stiff and it still has no comparison to a Slammers ring.
SM: Many people say that XPW, talent wise, spawned off of Slammers, who did you meet while your stay at Slammers?
A: I knew Carlos, but he left before I came into XPW. Juantastico, or RIVERA as we call him, and The Messiah went there a few times.
Hey man, Grimes is cool. I marked like crazy for him when he was wrestling down here in Memphis. It was rather unfortunate that Paul E. decided to stick him with those bald jobbers. The guy is hardcore. There was one spot I remember him doing down here during a hardcore match. He and his opponent wrestled outside the building and brought a table with them. Grimes set up a front-flip senton splash on his opponent lying on the table. Grimes climbed on top of a news van to deliver the move. However, the plan was for his opponent to roll off the table, but this dumbass lost his balance when he rolled of the table and caused the table to fall over with him. Grimes was already in the air when this happened so he fell about 10 feet and landed flat on his back on the asphalt parking lot. But, he got up and continued the match. He's good on the mic, too.
