- Shawn Michaels
INTRODUCTION
That has basically been the story of Shawn Michaels career. Michaels did spots inside of the ring that awed even the most educated experts. A book could easily be written of the "firsts" that Michaels has done throughout his illustrious career. Shawn used an innovative, high-risk, and almost unseen style (at the time) to gain the attention that would land him as possibly the most influential grappler in history. His exciting feuds with men like The Undertaker, Steve Austin, Razor Ramon, and Bret Hart and his legendary performances are among the most admired accomplishments of any wrestler in history. He helped carry the titan goliath of "sports'entertainment," the World Wrestling Federation, through it's lowest period of both popularity and money, and heel or face, every fan watching him was captivated and immediately glued to their television set. His incredible drive allowed the dream of a young boy to become the reality of a fullgrown man when he captured the World Wrestling Federation's World Heavyweight Title in 1996, but the surprising part of this seemingly storybook career was that the road to success was filled with a mass of bumps, holes, and divets.
Controversy followed Shawn for much of his decade plus long WWF tenure. Confrontations with real-life rivals, serious injuries, questionable backstage actions (and motives), and spectacular accomplishments marred by controversy became almost common occurrences in his personal, and even professional life. From the goods to the bads and from the highs to the lows, the career and life of Shawn Michaels has become one of the most commonly discussed topics among professional wrestling fans. Rumors have spread and half-truths and lies have become popular belief in the walled in world of professional wrestling. Here now, I, Jonathan Barber, give you the most accurate, full, and comprehensive summary available of the childhood, training, professional career, and personal life of perhaps professional wrestling's all-time greatest, "The Heartbreak Kid," Shawn Michaels...
