CHRIS "The Future" SABIN
Biography
Chris Sabin was primarily trained by Can-Am Wrestling School's director Scott D'Amore, but before that, also received training from Nate "Amazing N8" Mattson (who referred Sabin to D'Amore for further training). D'Amore calls Sabin the best student that he ever trained. After graduating from the Can-Am School, Sabin began surfing the independent circuits in Ontario, Michigan, and Ohio and worked for such promotions as NWA Great Lakes Wrestling and D'Amore's Border City Wrestling (now known as Maximum Pro Wrestling) promotion. On June 1, 2000, Sabin captured the NWA Great Lakes Heavyweight Title from Gutter and holds the distinction of being the last wrestler to hold that title before it became defunct. A year later on June 2, he captured the NWA Great Lakes Junior/Light Heavyweight Title.
On October 10, 2002 at BCW October Invasion, Sabin performed in perhaps his most memorable match of his career by wrestling none other than the legendary SABU. Sabin eventually tapped out to the legend, but the match was considered to be the Match of the Night and by some rankings, the BCW Match of the Year. Sabin still wrestles at BCW (now a.k.a. MXPW) shows to this day and in the promotion, has feuded with - among others - Frankie "The Future" Kazarian. On March 6, 2003, Sabin won a triple-threat match (with the help of former-ECW wrestler and then-BCW Heavyweight Champion Johnny Swinger) that also included Jerry Lynn and Frankie Kazarian to win the vacant BCW Television Title. Then, half a month later on March 21, he won the MXPW Cruiserweight Title from Truth Martini while still the BCW Television Champion. This made him the MXPW Unified Television Champion.
Sabin has also found success in the Independent Wrestling Revolution (which he has worked for ever since it's inception) and Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling. During his IWR tenure, Sabin has both squared off against and teamed with his trainer, Nate "Amazing N8" Mattson, and feuded with IWA Mid-South Wrestler "Jumpin'" Jimmy Jacobs. Other opponents of his include- among others - Ace Rick Solid, Truth Martini, Anthony Rivera, CK3, and fellow NWA-TNA star and Flying Elvis member Jorge Estrada.
His feud with Jimmy Jacobs has carried over into AWWL, NEPW, and XICW. In XICW, Sabin found success as a teammate of a former IWR opponent of his, Truth Martini. The duo won the XICW Tag Team Titles from Frankie the Face & Danny Daniels (subbing for the injured JT Lightning) (w/ Johnnie Bradford) on March 10, 2002. Danny Daniels was not satisfied with this loss and continued targeting the new tag team champions. He teamed with a new partner and Sabin's trainer, Nate "Amazing N8" Mattson, on June 9, 2002 to regain the tag titles from Martini & Sabin. The XICW fans later voted Martini & Sabin as the XICW Tag Team of the Year for 2002. They won an impressive 47% of the votes.
On April 9, 2003, Sabin made his NWA-TNA debut by teaming with UK star Jonny Storm in a Four Corners Elimination X Division Tag Team Title Match In his next appearance, which was three weeks later on April 30, he won a Four Corners X Division Elimination Match that also featured Jason Cross, Shark Boy, and Jimmy Rave. Two weeks later in his next appearance in the promotion, he beat Jerry Lynn and champion The Amazing Red in a triple-threat match to win the X Division Title. Two weeks later on May 28, he substituted for James Storm by teaming with Chris Harris to upset Jerry Lynn & Justin Credible to advance Storm & Harris' team (collectively known as "America's Most Wanted") in the NWA Asylum Tag Team Tournament. On the next two NWA-TNA shows, he retained his X title from Shark Boy and then Paul London (C.M. Punk laid out London, allowing Sabin to pin him), but on June 25, he suffered a non-title upset, as he lost to Frankie "The Future" Kazarian (who consequently as the same nickname as he does).
