OBJECTIVE

To acquire a challenging position in Traffic/ITS engineering that matches my background a provides an opportunity to apply my management skills.

experience

Project Engineer

2001 - Present.                                          WPMA Inc.                              USA

ITS On-Call Services, TxDOT El Paso

This project consists of development and deployment of Intelligent Transportation System and traffic engineering projects.  My responsibilities includes project management, project scheduling, QA-QC plan, communications design, CCTV and ATMS system design, PS&E, signalization and traffic impact studies.  As a part of this project, I developed the Plan Specification and Estimate (PS&E) for installing and integrating the Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) backbone and installation of four CCTV cameras, and generated an ITS implementation plan for the El Paso District of TxDOT.

Project: Traffic Engineering Services for Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 17, Houston, Texas.

I completed the traffic impact study for Tax Reinvestment Zone Number 17 (TIRZ 17) in Houston to compare the existing traffic conditions to future conditions after 8.4 million square feet forecasted growth of various land use. As a part of the project, I developed an Excel based spreadsheet to distribute trips based on existing patterns.  This project included 3 different scenarios based on 3 different pattern of growth and road network improvement.

Project: Light Rail Train Signal Final Design, Houston, Texas.

Prepared signal timing field books for 72 intersections to incorporate the upgrades of intersections from existing controllers to 2070 controllers for existing signals using NextPhase (Gardner Product). Established the optimized signal timings for proposed signals and prepared field books. Designed and prepared the red monitor conflict diagram, cabinet connection diagrams, yellow monitor diagrams, etc. required as part of the field books for installation of the signals.

Uptown Traffic Surveillance System Phases and ITS Support Services, Houston, Texas

Phase 1 consisted of development and deployment of a three-camera traffic video surveillance system for the purpose of monitoring critical intersections and roadway congestion in the Uptown (Galleria) area..  Phase 2 consisted of expansion and enhancement of Phase 1.

Project: Federal Reserve Bank Traffic Access Study, Houston, Texas

Traffic access study for the proposed Federal Reserve Bank  was to assist in determining efficient and safe traffic movements relative to site access.  As a part of this project, I oversaw a team of graduate engineers and technicians who conducted a field inventory of existing conditions and conducted traffic analysis.  Reviewing all of the analysis and comparing the existing and proposed levels of service  generated recommendations for improved operations.

Project Engineer

2000 - 2001.                               Urban Engineers Inc.                                     USA

Project: System Integration of I-476

Urban Engineers was chosen to be the System Integrator for the entire stretch of I-476 that included surveillance cameras, a ramp metering system, vehicle detector system, and a central computer system. I was project engineer responsible for the development of a simulation model using CORSIM to evaluate the effects of the ramp metering on the freeway main lanes and surface roads.  The simulation model was specifically used to design the programming of the ramp meter operations. This project consisted of data collection, modeling, calibration of data to match existing condition and design of ramp metering system based on model results.

Project: Traffic Impact Study Guidelines for Cecil County Maryland

I modified and updated the traffic impact study guideline based on the changes in Highway Capacity Manual and to conform to the overall goal of the county.  I was Project Engineer responsible for the research work to recognize the best practices followed in neighboring Counties and States.  I collected data from 9 neighboring Counties and also communicated with engineers using the guidelines to get their feedback.  Based on my findings I prepared an executive summary of my findings and suggested necessary modifications.

Project: Internal closed loop traffic control system for Burlington County, NJ

Urban Engineers, Inc, designed Phase II of the Burlington County Internal Closed Loop Traffic System for 19 traffic signal controlled intersections.  I was Project Engineer responsible for the highway capacity analysis of each intersection and the simulation for the design and optimization of the traffic signal operations using the Transyt-7F simulation and optimization program.  The final results provided a design of the proposed traffic signal timings for the field implementation into this project.

Project: Signal Warrant Study

I performed 11 signal warrants studies for Burlington County, NJ.  I also modified the Excel based signal warrant in-house software to improve the efficiency and used it for my analysis.
