Acid Perm
A permanent wave with a pH from 6.5 to 8.0, it produces a softer perm.

Aromatherapy
Use of essential oils fragrance for therapeutic benefits.

Ash
A cool or green-based color when referring to make up or hair color.

Babylocs
Locs that have been started and have not yet begun to mat.

Base
Also known as foundation, a skin-colored make-up used to smooth the surface of the skin and even its coloration.

Body
The volume or springiness of hair.

Braid Locs
Locs formed by braiding the hair in small sections.

Callus
Patch dry, dead, hard skin, particularly found on feet.

Castor Oils
Used in lipsticks, concealers, hair pomade, ointments, creams and lotions.

Comb Coils
Single strand twists formed using a comb and styling gel.

Dandruff
A condition of shedding dead cells of the scalp.

Dreads
Tiny braids or plaits of hair woven together to create rows.

Finger Comb
Using your fingers to pick out your hair.

Flat Twist
The hair is rolled so that it lays flat against the head, simular to a cornrow.

Fro
Short term for Afro.

Nap
Extremely tightly curled or coiled hair.

Ponytail
A hairstyle where the hair is gathered with a poneytail holder.

Ringlets
Naturally wavy locs that reach the shoulders.

Split-Ends
Damaged areas of the hair shaft caused by wear and tear, which split and can travel up the hair strand.
