July 2004 Prayer Letter

Dear Friend,

Looking around me: I dont always know the amazing things that are going on around me. Just recently I found out that the new rail project in Taiwan is the worlds largest. Is that possible? I thought the worlds largest was the one that will connect Tibet to the rail network of China. Well, please look at this article: http://www.allianz.com/azcom/dp/cda/0,,32234-44,00.html.

Praising the Lord: The past few months I have been going to southern Taiwan each week for interim pastorate duties. Last week after I preached on repentance, a lady said she wanted to get rid of idols that were in her car. A group of us went down to her car while her friend ripped out a small Buddha, a long string of beads, and other charms. This week, she gave me another bracelet that she had used as an amulet. We are now planning a good time to go to her house to take down pictures from her wall and to get rid of religious books she has.

Good opportunities: I just came home from teaching on the east coast of Taiwan. Can you see me (a Swiss-American) in Taiwan at a Japanese missionary's church using Mandarin Chinese to teach Bunung people the (Hebrew) Bible! I love my life! The Lord also worked the timing out just right so that I was there just in time to hold my co-workers' two-day-old baby and to attend the birthday party of the son of another colleague.

This next week I will be going to Japan to speak in two churches and a camp while I attend the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship conference there.
