The Beatitudes
(Bible expressions of praise for those who are considered exemplars of
piety and who may consequently expect a reward from God.)
Matthew 5:3-11

1.  "Blessed are the poor in spirit:  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

2.  "Blessed are they that mourn:  for they shall be comforted."

3.  "Blessed are the meek:  for they shall inherit the earth."

4.  "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:  for they shall be filled."

5.  "Blessed are the merciful:  For they shall octain mercy."

6.  "Blessed are the peacemakers:  for they shall be called the children of God."

7.  "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

8.  "Blessed are ye, when man shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake."
The Beatitudes were given by the Lord Jesus Christ at His sermon on the temple mount.  The sermon on the mount was one of the greatest He ever gave.  It goes into detail of how we should all live and the rules we need to go by.

To read the sermon go to Mattew chapter 5.  If you do not have a Bible handy just
and go to chapter 5.
