What a fantastic weekend it was with our friends who came from Boise! It was the first time in about two years that the four of us have had time together without kids and grandkids in tow. Sus hardly knew how to relax. She is constantly on the run with her mom, kids and grandkids. She amazes me with all she's been through healthwise, all the money she inherited from her father and yet she still helps her daughter with her daycare business. Their house is always abuzz with activity. Sus told us some funny daycare stories about the little imps they tend.
We had such a great time eating, drinking, visiting, hot tubbing and just enjoying one another. It was hard to find time to sleep. We did very little sleeping. It was all worth it. It was hard to hug them goodbye yesterday afternoon. We are all so close.
Saturday night, Val's brother and his wife came over for dinner with us. I grilled steaks, salmon and fresh corn. We had salads and all sorts of good food. I haven't laughed so hard and so long forever. His brother is an absolute comedian. We've known Val and his family most of our lives. We love them like our own.
The saddest thing happened Saturday. Val's mom called to tell us that Hailee (Val's niece who was married Friday) wasn't going to be able to go on her honeymoon to Cancun because they couldn't find her original birth certificate. The poor little girl was in agony. As it went, they had to cancel their trip. They're planning to try it again within a year.
My son's wife also called Saturday and said that he'll be delayed in coming home. It could be a week, maybe two or who knows how long. Sigh...
I'm on my own again until Thursday night. The house is so quiet that I hardly know how to act. I'll work on catching up on my sleep, movies, reading and golf this week.
