Well, my other computer needs some fixing so rather then wait for it to be fixed; I decided to let this chappie out. Anrui, Rhapsody of life and Belle Morte are still on my broken down computer. I am in the process of getting it fixed and all the documents saved. I really should have done that in the first place. I can’t promise when it’ll be fixed but some time in the very near future. But for now this story is my pride and joy. Thanks for the reviews and I hope you like it. It has more dialogue then the other one and sort of brings you more into my version of the medieval Silver Millennium. There’s some mild language later on but you’ve all heard it before so ‘what ever.’ Chapter One: Meet Nanashi, the Queen’s Slayer “…Twenty-one, twenty-two…There! That should be enough!” I said as I brushed the coat of a dog. Actually she was a wolf cub but what Quatra didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him. He actually did guard me (even in our exile) and would feel that a wolf cub would be a danger to my life. But then he’d feel guilty when he looked into the white wolf’s crystal green eyes. Yes, I new Quatra was a softie, despite his intelligence and swordsmanship. I think he’d have had a horrible life at court if he hadn’t left with me in the first place. People tend to die if they’re not ruthless enough at court. “Makoto! Makoto!” an old woman called. I turned as the door to the attic opened. An old motherly woman walked in. That was Merle, our maid. “What happened Merle?” I asked. “There are some people out there demanding to see you. Lord Quatra is having trouble keeping them from coming up here and talking to you themselves. Now if you excuse me Lady Makoto,” she said and bowed out to go do whatever she usually did. ‘Who could be here in the middle of nowhere and actually know who I am? Unless…no they couldn’t have found me, right? But maybe…’ I put the cub Sarien on the floor. She growled indignantly at being ignored. I quickly threw on an old flowery country gown. I could claim that I was just a country Lady and my husband was out or something, besides I could move easily in that dress and weapons could be hid. I had a dagger up my sleeve and a sword under all of the skirts. With that done I put on my imitation of Sarien’s indignant expression and trounced down the stairs. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Though there were a bunch of carriages downstairs, there was only one that I was concentrating on; the rest seemed to be an entrouge of servants. Quatra was talking with what seemed to be the head servant because he wasn’t dressed flashy enough to be the head honcho. That was insulting as it was because Quatra was a Lord and should have been able to talk to whoever was the cause of this mess. I huffed down to that carriage, trying to look as angry as I felt inside. The weather looked like it was about to thunder. I stopped after I reached Quatra. We both exchanged a look of mutual understanding. I trained my angry emerald eyes on the man dressed in the liveries of some Baron I forgot. He was as shaken as I expected him to be. Bad things like people falling down the stairs or having headaches, tended to happen when I looked at them after being angry. Quatra said it was the Royal blood in my veins. I’m not so sure… “Excuse me, sir. What happens to be the problem?” I asked and lowered the intensity of my gaze. Scaring him to death wouldn’t help the situation. Quatra sighed after waiting for the man to speak. “Lady Reika, this man here is from the house of Lombard…” he stopped and tried to see if I was getting it. ‘Well I guess I’m lady Reika now. Can’t let these men know who I really am. They might take me back home. Now Lombard…why is this familiar. I should have paid more attention to my history lessons.’ “Lombard is a Duchy on Callisto, Remember Lady Reika?” he asked. Obviously I was supposed to be playing a proper countrywoman, which was completely out of character but I could manage. “Yes, I remember Lord Quatra,” I said gravely. “Good, now then, Lord Goro is here and wants his servant, to relay us a message.” He stressed the word servant to remind the man of his place. “Well this just won’t do, sir. I demand to be taken to speak to this Lord of yours at once. Never mind, you don’t have to escort me. I know where he is,” I said and began to walk to the fancier carriage. The man blocked my way. “Sorry Lady Reika,” he sounded as if he knew who I was, “the Lord left instructions for me to explain matters not to be bothered.” I heard Quatra begin to draw his sword. He wouldn’t kill the man if he didn’t have to but I rather not take any chances. Quatra sometimes took his job too seriously. “Nonsense, I know perfectly well that your Lord is not busy.” I walked down to his carriage, angrily. Quatra was at my back. ‘He’s trying to insult me, this Lord Goro!’ Thunder crackled in the distance. I opened the carriage door and hopped right in. Quatra of course made sure it was safe beforehand. Across from me was a man in his early twenties. He was gorgeous with black hair and crystal blue eyes. But I knew him from court, he was an arrogant prick and I half knew his motives for coming. “What do you want?” I asked in my best cold voice. “Why Lady Reika or should I say Princess Makoto, you should know why I’m here,” he said with that same ‘I’m better then you smile.’ My emerald eyes hardened. Goro had been my ex-fiancé and I hated him the whole time. He was the youngest Lombard lord and would get no inheritance. He was the one in court who was after power and thought he could get it by marrying me. All he had was the title but he would inherit nothing. The Queen granted him permission to marry me because she knew I would hate it. I had no say in it at all. I might have been married to him already if not for the fact he started to see me as dangerous after I started to win some court duels. He wanted a trophy wife not an Amazonian princess. Needless to say, he called off the whole thing. “I want to hear it from you Goro,” I said and purposely omitted his title. He had a look of anger on his face but quickly his it under his arrogant court mask. “Why of course, Mako.” He used my nickname, which angered me even more. Quatra had to restrain me from tearing out his throat. “Makoto do you really want to make things worse?” Quatra whispered in my ear. I sighed and sat back down in the carriage seat. “You’re a hard one to find Makoto. Queen Anadis wants you back. She seeks to mend the rift your exile created.” I froze. The world seemed to spin. I expected another marriage proposal but this… ‘They found me. They know where I am. It’s going to start all over again.’ “Why so scared sugar plum? Maybe we can even get married,” he said with a smirk on his face. “Married…married! You stupid son of a bitch get out of my property before I decide to kill you! This is truly an insult. The Queen is trying to irritate me. First she sends you, a man the whole world knows I hate. To top it all off you aren’t even a true Lord. You’re just a younger leach of a son, trying to get into Aunt Anadis’s good graces so you can get some money! What kind of deal did she strike with you? That I marry you and you get all of my money? Idiot! I am nothing like those air headed Ladies at court! You are wasting my time Goro.” “You country wench. I outta-” he stopped as lightning flashed behind me and he looked a little scared. Apparently he heard the stories of my new powers (I think its just a fluke). I opened the carriage door and jumped out. Quatra followed me, as he looked for any danger. But I needed to get something off my chest. I jumped back into the carriage and whispered something in Goro’s ear. “When you get back to Jupiter tell my beloved Aunt Anadis that I knew her reasons for sending you and if she really wants to mend the rift between us, she should get her lazy ass to tell me what the hell she wants because I know very well that she knew where I was the whole time. This was a mutual exile. She wants something. Oh and Goro, If I ever see your face around here again, there will be a duel to the death between us.” I jumped back out the carriage. “You’re digging your own grave talking to the Queen like that!” Goro called out as the train of carriages started to move off. Quatra put a comforting hand on my shoulder. This meeting was emotionally exhausting and he knew it. But I just wanted to scream, not cry. “Mako, do you think it was smart to talk to Goro like that? He’ll tell the Queen what you said. You are not a stranger to her torture sessions Mako and when we get back…” he let the words hang, unsaid. ‘The Queen will probably have me killed herself.’ I put on my most comforting smile. “Who say’s I’m going back? Even the Queen’s Slayer couldn’t take me back.” We both laughed. Nanashi, the Queen’s Slayer, was the head of her guard. His real name was Trowa Barton but Anadis wanted it changed for affect and who was to argue with the Queen? He was the head of her guard and had earned his position, being one of the fiercest warriors in the galaxy (there were 5 on Jupiter. Surprisingly Quatra was among them). He wasn’t seen much outside of court and when he was it was to kill somebody for the Queen. But he didn’t scare me as much as my own aunt did… ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “You spoiled puppy. No, Sarien you’re not getting any more links. This is for our dinner.” I gently kicked the whining cub away. It whimpered and sat in the corner to eat the sausage links it had managed to wheedle from me. “Quatra can you help me carry these plates to the dining room table?” Quatra sighed and lifted up a bowl with some salad in it. “Makoto, you shouldn’t cook so much,” he said while carrying it. I got to carry the mashed potatoes. We walked to the dining room, which was unfortunately situated at the other side of the manor. Quatra froze in front of me. He froze in the doorway of the dining room. Something was amiss. “Quatra can you hurry up and move? The foods getting cold!” I pushed him out of the way while he was too shocked by whatever it was. The bowl of mashed potatoes I was carrying crashed to the floor as my hands went numb. A cold chill ran through my body and I’m sure my skin was very pale because sitting at the head of our table (very casually I might add) was the Queen’s Slayer, Nanashi… ******************* The evil cliffie faerie strikes again…
