Author's Notes: 7/9/00 I know, two chapters? *sigh* I've been working over time! *giggle* Well, here's Chapter 5! Disclaimer: You know, the usual! ----------*---------*----------*----------*----------*----------*----- Lita barely had enough time to make it into her next class, Health. Mr. Stewart. As soon as she walked in, the first thing she heard was... "Hey, it's you again!" She would know that voice anywhere. It had a deep tone to it, covered by that annoying and jerky tone. It was that guy she met not that long ago. Ken Kendra. "How would have known we would have the same class?" He leaned back on his chair. "Lita?" asked another voice, and she also recognized that one. It was soft and had a warmness to it. "Serena, I can explain why I didn't show up! I was trying to find my locker, and when I finally did, he," she jerked her thumb out at the grinning Ken, "and his little group--" "My group is NOT little!" Ken interrupted, sitting upright in his seat. Lita continued, as if she hadn't been interrupted. "Were in my way, and by the time they moved, the bell rung." Serena nodded. "Oh, well that's a good reason!" She smiled. Lita grinned and walked up to Mr. Stewart, a tall man in his late 40's with light green eyes hidden behind his glasses and black hair. She handed him the note, and waited patiently for his directions. He looked up and announced, "Class, this is Lita. Lita, this is class. You sit next to Ken." Lita could see almost all the girls stop what they were doing to stare at her in envy. Her mouth practically dropped open. Of all the places to sit, next to Ken? He was crazy! But who was she to argue?. She place her backpack on the desk, and took the chair next to him. "No backpacks on desks," Mr. Stewart said, walking by. Lita grumbled and placed her backpack to the side of her. "Hello, partner," Ken chuckled. "Shut up," whispered Lita and looked around the classroom. It was a fairly large classroom filled with equipments all around. Girls were still throwing her looks, and Serena sat by a girl that looked like her sister, except she had lighter colored hair and eyes. Her pale blonde hair was held back by a bow, and her face was a little sharper than Serena's. She was pretty, of course, just like Serena. "Now, we split up into three's, and continue the discussion about genes," Mr. Stewart said, still walking around the room. Serena and the girl sitting next to her walked over to Lita while Ken moved towards the back. "Hi Lita, this is Mina!" Serena said, pointing to the other blonde. Mina smiled and held out her hand. "I'm Mina Lovett." She had a kind, soft, and playful voice, which seemed to be quite as addictive as Serena's. "Lita Kendra." Lita shook her hand. Mina's eyes grew wide. "You're related to Ken? You certainly don't look like it..." "Actually, I'm his foster sister," she corrected. "Though he doesn't exactly know that yet..." Serena grinned. "So, when are you going to tell him the news?" "Whenever he comes back living with his mother," Lita answered. "Lookout, 3 o' clock," Mina warned. "I think that Mina's right. Genes do work that way, don't you think so?" Serena spoke loudly. "Oh, yes, definitely. Everyone knows that!" Lita said, getting the point. "Good jobs," Mr. Stewart complemented, and continued walking along. "Anyway, I think he'd be surprised," said Serena. Mina nodded in agreement. "So...what do you think of him so far?" "I think he's a jerk, personally," Lita said. "Actually, he's okay. He can be really kind at times," Serena informed helpfully. "It's just, you know, high school, friends, all those stuff. Believe me." "I don't believe that!" exclaimed Lita. She barely met him, but she couldn't believe what Serena had said about him. "Maybe you'd find out, one of these days about his true personality," Mina said, stretching out her hands. "You know, Serena, that's what Ami said," Lita told her. "Ami what?" "Ami Anderson." "I know her day...she's in the same P.E. period as Mina and mine. Though she isn't very good at it, she is fantastic at the swimming competitions!" Serena squealed. "I would love to meet her one...she sounds very...cool, I guess." "Bell," Mina warned, looking up at the clock. She picked up her stuff, and handed Serena her's. "A couple of minutes. Time sure flew by here fast, didn't it?" "Thanks." The bell rung, and all of the students eagerly ran out of the classroom. Art was next, and Lita found herself walking slowly to the class. Out of the corner of her eyes, she spotted Ken, headed pretty much the same direction as she was. "Oh, it's you again. Where are you headed now?" he asked, as soon as he saw her. "None of your business," Lita snapped back. "Maybe it is! You might have the same class as me," Ken answered back, grinning. "Who do you have?" She was really starting to hate this guy. "Mrs. Shannon." Ken's grin grew wider. "Why, my, what a coincident! I have the same class!" He sped his steps up. Someone up there was having fun at her expense. Great, now *two* classes the same as his. Mr. Satan-with-a-backpack-and-attitude. Great. "You know, you're going to be late if you don't hurry up," Ken warned. That was when Lita noticed that he was going way ahead of her. She walked faster, and quickly caught up with him. "And where exactly are you in a rush for?" "You'll see." They reached the class, room 28, and Lita handed her note to Mrs. Shannon, a woman with blonde hair and turquoise eyes, in her late 20's, early 30's. "Lita...you sit next to Raye, the girl next to the sink." Lita quickly spotted Raye, and sat down next to her. Raye, she had to admit, was very pretty. Long purple-black hair and exotic purple eyes. "Hi," Lita greeted. "Hi," Raye said softly, her voice soft and harmonious. "I'm Lita Kendra, and you are...?" "Raye Phoenix," Raye said. "Hey, are you related to--" Lita cut her off. "No, I'm not. Not related to Ken over there. I'm his foster sister." She nodded. "I see..." With that out of the way, Lita and Raye began to talk and found they had a lot of things in common, especially, thinking that this art class was boring. Lunch...locker...lunch...locker... Lita couldn't make up her mind. Should she go back to her locker, and put her books away and risk running into that annoying Ken? Or should she just skip it, and go to lunch? She heard her stomach growl, and quickly decided what to do. First, go grab a bite to eat, then go to her locker, and hopefully, Ken wouldn't be there. She opened her backpack and pulled out a lunch she made herself. It was nothing that exotic or even close to something she would have made, but she was running a little late. Taking out the apple, sandwich, and drink, she quickly stuffed them in her mouth. "Lita?" Lita turned around and spotted Ami. She waved. "Hmmh Amme.." Speech was difficult for her because she didn't digest the food properly. "Umm...hi...so, did you get your locker?" She nodded and pulled out the locker number to show Ami. "You are next to Ken? Aren't you excited?" she asked. Lita swallowed her food. "No, he's mean and a jerk. How can you actually say this guy can be nice?" "Well, he can be," Ami said. She changed the subject. "So, how did you think of the school so far?" "Confusing," Lita answered. "It's big and confusing. That was the impression I got." "You'll get used to it," promised Ami. "Believe me. And you'd learn to enjoy it. Unless, of course, you mess around with the popular people. Things could get ugly. Bell's going to ring in one more minute." Lita stared at her and packed her stuff. She didn't even have to look up at the clock. It seemed like everyone knew when the bell was going to ring at the precise time. That was kind of freaky. "So, what class do you have next?" "P.E.," Lita said. "Then, to end the day, Math, Mrs. Lena, room 43." "Sounds like you know your schedule," Ami commented. "I have P.E. right now too. Bell." The bell rung, as she predicted, and the two walked over to the P.E. classes. "Today, class, is our last time at football," the teacher, Ms. Locks said. "And before I hear those cheers or groans, I just want to tell you that volleyball comes next, and it would be our last sport for this year." Everyone cheered and Lita stared at the P.E. clothes. Light blue shorts and white t-shirts. Well, at least she missed football season. She spotted Mina, Raye, Serena, and Ami, all in the same P.E. class as her. Ms. Locks. Well, that was good. Serena was talking to a girl with shoulder length brown hair held back in a ribbon, Mina was talking with Raye, and Ami seemed to be alone. She decided to talk to Ami, but suddenly, she felt someone holding her backpack pack. She looked up to the face of Ms. Locks, the blonde hair, and brown-eyed P.E. teacher. "Sorry, but no backpacks allowed on the P.E. ground," she said. "Oh," was all Lita had to say. She saw Ms. Locks leave, and turned to yell to Ami, who was watching the girls play football. "Ami!" Ami turned around and walked up to Lita, smiling. "Yes, Lita?" "I'm wondering...do you happen to know Serena Moonstar, Mina Lovett, or Raye Phoenix?" "Well, no...I don't know them," Ami replied, biting her lips. "Why do you ask?" "Oh...no reason," Lita said. She watched as Ms. Locks scolded the girls for not playing football, and talking instead. "Um...I think you better play the game..." She nodded, and quickly went back. "Why do I get the feeling I won't like P.E. that much?" Lita asked herself. Finally. 6th period. Math, Mrs. Lena. She arrived just in time. First thing she did was look around, to see if Ken was there. She sighed, relieved that there wasn't, although those same girls from her homeroom were there. Great. She was going to hate this class too. She sighed and sat down. "Oh, my. Isn't it that girl from homeroom?" someone whispered. This was going to be a long period... ----------*----------*-----------*----------*----------*----------*--- So, was this boring or what? Well, I'll make it more interesting! Believe me! Okay?
