Title: Just a Room Away E~mail: TenshiNoAi158@aol.com Author's Name: Sassy V Rating: G ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Author's Notes: Well, here I am! Yes, the dreaded Sassy V is back for more!! Okay, before I thought this would be an Anastasia fic, but I kept changing my plot, and so now, I'm just writing whatever. Hehe, alternative universe--NO SAILOR SENSHI STUFF OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!! Just a plain old ordinary life. Oh, and I would like to thank to those who helped me come up with a title!! I really appreciate it! *BIG THANKS* Disclaimer: I do not own Sailormoon at all!! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Lita walked toward a light blue two-story house, not bothering to look at her foster mother. She had said thanks, wasn't that enough? "Lita, don't you want to go look at your new house?" Mrs. Kendra asked her, her dark blue eyes gentle. "You are going to be living there for a while." "Another time," mumbled Lita. She flicked her long ponytail back, and stared at the ground, kicking pebbles with her foot. "Maybe Ken's home," stated Mrs. Kendra brightly. "I'm sure you and he would be great friends. He's around your age--15, and I'm sure he'd love you." "Uh huh," said Lita, still kicking at the pebbles. "I bet he would." "He plays a lot of sports. Do you like sports?" Mrs. Kendra pulled a key from her pocket, and slid the key in the lock with ease, turning it to the side. "Uh humm," replied Lita, stepping into the air-conditioned house. She closed her eyes, letting the coolness sweep over her like a light mist. That felt nice after coming out of the foster home filled with screaming children, over excited young couples looking for a nice child, and waking up in a room with no air conditioner, the temperature 86 degrees and rising. After a moment of silence, Mrs. Kendra asked, "Would you like to see your room?" Lita opened her eyes and nodded silently. Following Mrs. Kendra up the flight of stairs, she noticed there were quite a lot of trophies of almost every single kind aligning the trophy cases near the end of the stairs. Sports of every kind: football; soccer; tennis; basketball; baseball; and more. Trophies in gold, silver, or bronze, metals in either gold or silver hanging around the doorknobs, and most of all, posters of famous athletics. Did her son have an obsession with sports or something? Was he a jock? Player? What? "My son loves sports," said Mrs. Kendra, as if she was reading Lita's mind. "He plays a lot of games, almost every single one the school has to offer." Jock then. So her son was a jock. "School?" repeated Lita. Oh, how she hated schools now. After being in so many...argh! She didn't even want to think about it. "Yes, school. You're going to the same one Ken's going--Seasons High School," replied Mrs. Kendra. "That's the closet high school around...I'll try to get Ken to show you around the place." "Seasons?" What kind of name was that for a high school? Mrs. Kendra didn't say anything. Instead, she knocked on a door and called out, "Ken? Are you there?" Hearing no answer, she opened the door, Lita following behind her. Once inside, she saw even more trophies, medals, and posters. What was up with that guy? Walking slowly, she looked at the quickly made bed and her eyes landed on a picture on a surprisingly, empty desk. Picking it up, she glanced at it. It was a little boy, about seven years old, holding hands with a man that looked like him-his father probably-and a younger looking Mrs. Kendra. So that was Ken.... He didn't look that bad....but maybe time was wasted on him and he grew to be an ugly looking guy... Lita smirked at the thought. "That's Ken..." Mrs. Kendra said, tracing her finger on his outline. "And that's Tim..." She looked at the brown-haired man with dark blue eyes for a second before turning away. "Who would've thought he was like one of *those* kind of men? Get a good look at a younger girl..." Obviously, divorce. Attraction. Lita placed the picture down, and looked at another picture, hung up on the wall. She didn't notice it before...but maybe that was because of all those pictures hanging around... Her eyes roamed over the picture, trying to figure out which one was Ken. It was picture of a football team, and to her, they all look *fine*. Now, which one was Ken? "Oh, that's Ken's football team and him. It was taken last year. They won the championship, did you know that?" asked Mrs. Kendra. She was about to show Lita who Ken was, but the telephone rung. "Stay right here for a while-I'll go get the phone." Rushing out of the room, Mrs. Kendra ran to the nearest phone. Lita sighed. Great, she was going to live with a jock... He'd probably have an attitude too. And he probably has a couple of girlfriends hanging on him--from the cheerleading squad, no doubt. Popular too. Just great. A few minutes later, Mrs. Kendra walked back into the room. A look of disappointment was on her face. "Ken's with his father for a couple of months. Guess he can't show you around after all. But I'll tell you what--maybe I can get that girl next door--Ami--to show you around. I'm sure she'd love to." Lita noted "with his father". Yep, divorce it was. She was right. "Come to think of it--I think she's home right now. Let me just show you you're room, and then you two can meet." Motioning to Lita, Mrs. Kendra led her to her new room. It was just the next door on the left of Ken's. Looks like they are sharing the bathroom too. Great. Mrs. Kendra handed Lita a key, and Lita carefully opened the door. It was also air-conditioned, and empty. Nothing there. No bed, no chair, no nothing. Where was everything? Again, as if Mrs. Kendra was reading her mind, she said, "I just thought that maybe you wanted to decorate it or something before we get the furniture. Maybe paint it or put up wallpaper?" Lita looked at her and asked, "And the furniture?" "Lita, we're going to go shopping for that! I wasn't sure what kind of stuff you wanted, so I just thought maybe you and I could go looking for stuff tomorrow. Since this is break for a week for the school, we have a whole entire week!" exclaimed Mrs. Kendra excitedly. Her jaw nearly dropped to the floor. "But...the money?" "Don't worry! I have a ton of it! Working in the entertainment business pays a lot of money," informed Mrs. Kendra. Lita slowly smiled. This family wasn't looking so bad after all...maybe she could get use to it... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Okay, that's chapter 1! Hope you like it!
