Love Conquers All by: Sailor SwiftHeart Rated: PG *Chapter Five: Ken Tells Cheryl* When Ken got home, he had to call Lita right away. "That's wonderful, Ken! So when do you find out if the divorce is final or not?" Lita asked after Ken had filled her in. "Probably not for another few days." Ken said. He hoped they would grant him the divorce. He knew he was doing the right thing. And Lita convinced him even more. The love and compassion he heard in Lita's voice made him realize that he was missing out on something more wonderful than he could imagine. Now, he had to break the news to Cheryl. Ken didn't really know how to tell her, so he thought he might as well start with the truth. Cheryl didn't come home for a couple of hours. Ken waited until she came and sat down in the living room before saying anything. When she got seated, Ken started. "Cheryl, we need to talk." "About what?" Cheryl snapped. "About us." Ken answered. "What about us?" Cheryl asked. "Well, to be frank, I have a problem." Ken said, "I'm not happy here, Cheryl. I don't think I ever was. I'm really getting frustrated living here. I don't feel any love for you. So you see, that's why I am doing what I'm doing." Ken said and paused a moment. He dreaded saying the next part. "Cheryl.... I've filed for a divorce." Cheryl sat there still for a moment with a look of complete shock on her face. She jumped up, her face burning red with anger. "WHAT!!!!!" she screamed. "Please, Cheryl, calm down..." Ken said. "You stupid bastard, don't you DARE tell what to do!" she yelled, "I can't believe you're doing this to me! I hate you SO much! I hope you rot in hell!" "Shut up, Cheryl, what the hell do you know anyway? Your brain is so fried from drugs that you can't think properly! I really pity you, Cheryl. It's sad to know that there are twenty-five year old out there who are as braindead as you are!" Ken retorted. Cheryl raised her hand and was about to smack Ken across the face. Ken caught her hand before it touched him. He held her wrist until he finished speaking. He looked deep into her eyes and said, "Never again will you hit me. If you so much as dare to raise your hand at me, I'll smack you back. Don't you EVER forget that." "I don't need you, anyway! I've found someone else." Cheryl said, referring to Jason. "Fine, go to him. See if I give a damn. Goodbye once and for all, Cheryl. I can't say it's been nice knowing you, 'cause it hasn't. It's been pure hell here!" Ken shouted, as he walked to the bedroom. As Ken closed the door to the bedroom, he could hear Cheryl screaming at him to go to hell and what not. Ken didn't care. He got a suitcase and started packing. He didn't plan on staying at his house any longer than he had to. Ken left to stay at the nearest hotel he could find. The first thing he did was call the bank. He legally stopped Cheryl from being able to get her hands on his money. Next, Ken made a list of all his belongings. Everything in that house was basically his. The TV, stereo, washer and dryer. Ken had to buy everything, because Cheryl had no money. Ken could still remember the first few nights when he and Cheryl were settling into their home. "Don't you have any money?" Ken asked innocently. "What's YOUR problem? You're suppose to be the man of the house making the money. Are you too cheap to spend a little? It's not like it's going to hurt your savings account." she said. Or, there was another time when Cheryl had to insult Ken. They were looking through a furniture magazine for a new couch. "Ooh, how about this one?" Ken said, pointing out a really nice couch. "Yea, you would like that one. It's nice and cheap, just like you!" Cheryl said. They ended up buying a really expensive couch that didn't look good. Ken couldn't figure out how he could've been so blind and not seen how much of a wench Cheryl really was. Even on their wedding night, Cheryl had to hurt Ken's feelings. Ken and Cheryl spent half the night having sex, even though Ken didn't feel anything special. He was like a robot, doing everything mechanically. After they were finished, Cheryl told Ken to his face that she'd had better. Ken was so hurt that he never touched Cheryl again. He had no desire to! She was nothing but an uncaring, unloving woman. When Ken looked at the clock, he noticed that he had spent 2 hours thinking about his life with Cheryl. To get his mind off of her, Ken flicked on the television. When that didn't work, he went to bed. He fell asleep with a lot on his mind. He woke up the next morning with a surge of energy. He thought he'd better call Reece to let him know he was now staying at a hotel. "Hello, Reece? Ken here. I'm not at home anymore. I got sick of it with Cheryl. I am now staying at the Sunset Inn." Ken said. "Oh! Well, it's a good thing you called, Ken. I need to go over something with you. Can you come to my office today?" Reece asked. "Uh-oh, that doesn't sound good." thought Ken "I can be there in 30 minutes." he told Reece, his voice filled with tension and worry. "Good, see you then." Reece said. Ken couldn't believe this. What could go wrong now? ***
