I apologize in advance for this chapter. It seems narrated but I didn’t mean for it to be. This chapter was originally going to be done in Makoto’s P.O.V. but it would be worse because I’m not to good at them. So I guess a small part of me still wanted to write the P.O.V. so it came out like…an Author’s Point of View. Sorry again folks. And there’s going to be some cursing in this chapter too. It’s tasteful I promise. Well I don’t know what you might think…tasteful cursing? Who would have thunkit? I’ll leave you all alone now. Chapter VI- Senshi of Sacrifice Part I *Makoto and Heero* Makoto trailed after Heero. She had attempted to start a conversation many times. "Yuy…how is you Queen Relena like?" Makoto asked. She began to call him by his last name just to piss him off. So far it hadn’t worked. "Hn," Heero answered. That was the seventh question he answered "Hn" too. She was getting sick of it. "Damn it Heero! Please talk to me. I know you’re human…I think you are. You have a mouth so speak. Tell me something. Ask how’s the weather or-" Makoto was cut off when Heero stopped before the corner and motioned for her to be quiet. "Why are you hushing me for? Don’t you…" she stopped at Heero’s warning glare. He pulled out a gun from seemingly nowhere and motioned for Makoto to stay where she was. She knew something was wrong but just not what. He turned the corner. From her position she could hear all that was going on but she was blind as to what they were doing. "Stop right there," Heero said coldly. He probably had that look on his face. The ‘butter won’t melt in my mouth,’ predatory and all around hard ass look. Makoto shuddered; she had been on receiving end of that look once or twice. There was the sound of men, at least ten, drawing for their guns. Heero was in ankle deep from the sound of it. "Hey kid. Get away from here. We have business with your Queen…a matter of the crown you can say. Now run along. We’re on our way to see her now. We don’t need an escort. We know where she is," one of the men said. Makoto strained her ears to listen. Then she heard a gun click. Heero’s gun more then likely. "What the hell is that baka up to. He’s going to kill himself," Makoto thought. She didn’t know what to do but she knew she had to do something fast. Makoto was a fighter by spirit but some of Ami had rubbed off on her. She needed a plan. "Put your weapons down or omae wa korosu," Heero said. It didn’t seem so threatening coming form the mouth of an eighteen-year-old boy. There was the sound of several safeties being clicked off. "We don’t take well to threats," one of the men said menacingly. Heero in was worse then ankle deep, he was neck deep and drowning. There was an exchange of gunshots. Actually it sounded like Heero was the only one doing the firing; the men were laughing. Makoto debated whether or not to take a peek. Curiosity got the better of her. She peeked around the corner and was nearly hit by a flying gun. Apparently Heero had run out of bullets and just decided to toss the gun her way. He charged in, just as formidable without the gun as with it. "I should help him…I should…might as well. I would have gotten killed if he failed anyway." Makoto walked casually around the corner. The men who were fighting (about ten, not including Heero) all froze when they saw her. Some had looks of terror on their faces, others looked strangely relived. "It’s the master!" one of them cried out. Makoto was puzzled. Another of them dropped to their knees and bowed. "I’m sorry Master. We almost blew the whole conspiracy." "Conspiracy?" Makoto asked. The man on the floor winced. "I mean plan. Please don’t punish me for my insolence," the man begged. He looked terrified of the cloaked and masked Makoto. Heero trained his intense gaze on Makoto. Makoto met his gaze without fear. ‘Great. Just great. Heero thinks I am working with them,’ she thought. Makoto broke the staring contest and looked at the assassins who were looking at her. "I honestly don’t know what you all are raving about. Who’s master am I?" she asked. The men all looked puzzled but one of them who had an odd expression on his face. He was the one who looked weird then looked like he had a revelation. He walked over and hit the man who was bowing on the back of the head. "You baka," he said, "she isn’t the master. The master has a white mask! That’s obviously not her. Now hurry up and kill both of them before the real master gets angry with you. You know she doesn’t tolerate failure." Now things started to make sense to Makoto and hopefully Heero. They mistook her for their master who happened to go cloaked and masked, a white mask at that. Gee, what a coincidence but it bought Heero and Makoto some time. They both exchanged a look of mutual knowledge and a shared plan. Makoto and Heero both rushed the enemies while they were confused. And Makoto, being a black belt in several types of martial arts, didn’t need a gun. Apparently Heero didn’t either. Makoto did a quick sort of handstand and used her legs to put the man in a chokehold. She flipped him over her and heard him smash into the wall; the walls were marbled, lucky him. Makoto stood shakily. Her left side was very painful and she was probably bleeding through her cloak. Makoto turned and saw the man she threw get up. "Holy…how…after that?" Makoto was stupefied and was beginning to get scared. Heck, even the youmas she’d faced off with in the past would have been hurt after something like that…most of them. And the man wasn’t a youma…right? While she was staring open eyed at the enemy she was being surrounded, by four men. Hopefully they didn’t heal as quickly as their friend…it did seem likely. Backing into the wall seemed like a good idea at the time. At least the baddies couldn’t surprise her from behind. But now there wasn’t as much hope for escape. She looked over one of the assassin’s shoulder and saw Heero sink to his knees. The men must have beaten the crap out of the ‘Perfect Soldier.’ They were strong as well as fast, multitalented…goodie… Makoto felt an anger wash over her. Anger at the men who were trying to kill them. Funny, she was only now beginning to get angry. "Let him go!" Makoto said in a cold voice. She tried to sound as much as Heero as possible. Hopefully it made as much of an impression on them as it had on her. It didn’t. Their laughter rang in her ears. Makoto was feeling anger and something else she couldn’t begin to describe. The next few seconds were chaotic… Makoto’s vision was shaky…no that wasn’t it, it was an earthquake. The floor underneath their feet was bucking. The shaking was so violent that everybody fell to their knees. One of the men tried to find a doorway but he fell before he even turned the corner. It was like riding a roller coaster. Makoto was the only one who was still standing but not for long. The roof was cracking. Makoto stood wide eyes at the scene unfolding around her. She began to cough as dust and bits of ceiling began raining down. Makoto looked up in time to see a large piece of the roof fall over her. It hit her head causing her to collapse on the floor. Blood trickled down her forehead and on to the floor from where she was hit. Makoto was unconscious. The earthquake had stopped from the moment Makoto entered a comatose state. Coincidence? Maybe… ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~(Makoto’s Dream)* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* (A.N.-::: means some one else is speaking. ‘’ Means its Mako-chan. Kind of convenient since there’s only two um…er…people…speaking in this part) "Makoto…Makoto…" a feminine voice whispered. Makoto opened her emerald eyes. She looked around and saw she was floating in an endless blue sky. Looking down she saw that she was wearing her Princess Gown. That was odd because she had become a Queen during Crystal Tokyo. Well the fact that she was wearing something familiar in the alien place was a comfort. She also noticed that her tattoos were still there. ‘Where am I…the last I remember was falling…falling. There was the battle then the earthquake and the tile that hit me. I’m either dead or unconscious and dreaming. Hurrah. Now how do I get out of here?’ Makoto floated and realized she was really, really lost. "Makoto," came the voice again. ‘Who’s calling me!’ There was a small silence. The blue sky drained away leaving Makoto standing on a forest floor. All around her were trees, plants. The only thing missing were the animals. :::Makoto::: This time the voice came inside of her head. ‘What! I want to go back. Put me back. Who are you? Where are you?’ :::You have the power. Find me. Listen. We are all around you. We are your element. Just try it. Find me::: Makoto spun around. There was nothing around her except the trees. ‘What is she talking about? My element is nature but what does that have to do with this. The only things that are around me are trees. Trees…my element is nature…Kami! A tree is trying to talk to me!’ :::I see you’ve figured this out already. You’re a quick learner. That’s great because I don’t have much time to teach you::: Makoto looked puzzled. ‘Teach me what? Where am I? Why don’t you have enough time! Answer my questions.’ ::: I will answer your questions after you find me Makoto::: The presence that she had felt from the voice vanished. ‘Great. I’ll be confused until I find her. She said listen. My power is over nature so that includes trees. I just have to listen. I wonder if it has to do with the fact I absorbed the power of my planet. I wonder if I had it all along. No time to think about that. I have to find the tree fast.’ Makoto closed her eyes and concentrated on her element. It was difficult. Her tattoos felt tingly making it harder to concentrate. Finally she felt it. Something had changed. Opening her eyes she looked again at the forest around her. The plant life was still there. But they were what changed. The plants and trees were all transparent, ghost like. The trees had bright coils of gold life energy threaded with some other strange green energy inside as well as the plants. ‘Wow, its like I have some x-ray glasses or something…cool.’ She noticed that the smaller younger trees were glowing brighter then the older ones. ‘Now lets find that tree…’ She walked around for a long while until she felt that same presence. She was nearby, very close. Turning around she saw the largest tree ever and wondered how she missed it. The tree was as large as a Sequoia, maybe larger. With her other sight (the x-ray) she saw that inner workings of the tree. The green coil was so bright it was blinding. ‘What the…’ Makoto lowered her concentration and noticed that the gold energy was very faint…very faint. ::: I see you found me. You learn really fast…I don’t have much time left::: ‘What are you talking about? Answer my questions.’ She could have sworn the tree sighed. :::Very well. I will start by explaining where you are. You are in a forest obviously. I don’t know your human concept of mapping so I can’t say where. You are on earth though. Well technically only your spirit is here. Your body is back where you came from::: ‘That explains a lot. Well put me back now, please.’ :::I’m afraid I can’t do that. Only you can. You are sort of asleep. Now I don’t have time for this. You will wake up soon. I should explain what I am. You may call me Kya. I am the only tree left that remembers Crystal Tokyo and the Silver Millennium. Part of what you see is my life energy; the other is my magic. My life energy is faint. I’m a very old tree. Now that you know the basics of your power I can explain to you who you are. But you should already know that::: ‘I don’t think I know anymore…tell me." :::You are Makoto Kino. You control nature. You are my master. The earthquake, yes I felt your magic awaken. You caused the earthquake with your strong emotion. Practice that control. Now you can see nature differently, if you choose. With your new power you can also communicate with plant life. You’re talking to me aren’t you? Your natural influence with the weather has been increased. But more importantly you can call us::: ‘I can do all of that? What changed me? I’m not in Sailor Senshi form, how could I have done all that?’ :::You absorbed the power of your planet. Instead of drawing on the power of your planet, you are your planet::: Makoto felt a tingly sensation on her body. Looking at her hands she found that she was disappearing slowly. :::It is too late. You’re leaving. To grow a plant at your will, you must feed it your energy. If you over extend yourself you will die. There is one more thing…::: It was too late though, Makoto had disappeared completely. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*(End)* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Makoto opened her eyes and jumped up. "It was only a dream…only a dream," she whispered. But she knew it wasn’t. Looking around she saw Heero surrounded by all of the men. They looked ready to kill him. ‘I have to help Heero. Kya said I have the power to make earthquakes…no I can’t do that. Last time I got knocked unconscious. I can’t use my weather because I’m not outside. What can plants do? I can feed them energy to make them grow. But how can I get something big in here to wrap all of these guys up?’ Makoto grew frustrated. She stood up against the wall. ‘I’ll just try and make them come in through the walls, even if they are marble. I’ve seen weeds brake up rocks over time, I have to really speed up the process.’ Makoto sneaked another look at Heero. One of the men in the circle pulled a knife out and approached Heero. Makoto hurried and closed her eyes. She concentrated on the area outside of the palace. They were only one wall away from a forest. With her other sight she soared through the sky, her spirit at least. Then she found what she was looking for. On a small maintenance shed in the garden grew a bramble of sharp vines. The vines were completely covering the shed, except for the entrance. It even had a few flowers. ‘Now how do I feed you my energy?’ Makoto thought. She didn’t expect an answer. ‘I am called Yuki. I am the plant you seek. You are the mistress. I know what you want and I am yours to control. Its odd that you haven’t done this before but to feed me some of you magic just open your mind, open a channel to me,’ the plant said. Makoto looked at her body for the first time when she had the other sight. She was overflowing with the green magic energy and had the normal amount of life energy. But she had to think of how to give the plant, Yuki, some of her magic. Then she had a weird idea. She channeled some of her magic into a thin coil and connected it to the plant’s magic coil. The instant both coils touched she felt a jolt and was snapped back to reality. Opening her eyes she still had the other sight. She saw a small stream of green energy flowing from her body linking her to Yuki. But with her other sight she was the only one who saw it. She shut off the other sight. Yuki was on her…its way. Looking back at the scene taking place five feet in front of her. Heero was fighting the men and was loosing. He must have been fighting for awhile though. ‘I’ve got to distract them until Yuki gets here. My side still hurts. I’m probably bleeding. No problem I still can do this. No problem,’ Makoto thought optimistically. One of the men slashed Heero across the chest with his knife. Makoto figured it was now or never. "Hey boys…um…can you stop fighting?" Makoto asked. She cringed at her idiotic speech but it worked. The fighting stopped. All eyes were on her. "I thought you said she was dead!" one of the men said. "I could have sworn she was. There was no pulse!" another of the men retorted. Heero was catching his breath but his Prussian eyes were trained on Makoto. "Listen little lady, just go away and you won’t get hurt. I don’t know what you think you’re doing but-"the man stopped as Makoto interrupted. "First of all don’t call me little lady. Second of all I know what I’m doing. I’m waiting." "Waiting for what? Your boyfriend to save you?" the man asked sarcastically. "Don’t make me laugh. You men are all alike. You all think a woman has to have a man to protect her…I sound like Rei. And as to what I’m waiting for a friend." Makoto stopped when the floor started to shake again. The outer wall burst open. A large thick thorny vine burst through. The men were backing up, their guns in hand. Makoto stepped fearlessly and stood by the vine. "Meet Yuki." Makoto put one hand on Yuki. The instant they made contact she felt a new power in her. It was intense. Makoto felt like she was on a new high, buoyed by all of the power. Heero was scared for one of the rare times in his life. The woman behind the silver mask wasn’t Makoto. Her eyes were glowing a bright green, like fresh cut grass. He wasn’t scared of her, just scared of her power. She was doing this for the first time, he could tell, that’s what scared him. Heero was the closest of the men. Makoto was in Yuki’s mind. Makoto/Yuki (as the vine) rushed forward and wrapped around Heero. They squeezed him. The sharp thorns puncturing his chest. "Makoto," Heero whispered. That was what brought Makoto back into her own awareness. She took control of the plant once more. ‘Yuki. We have to set him down. He’s not one of them,’ Makoto mind spoke through the link she shared with Yuki. Yuki resisted at first since it’s first order was to deal with all of them. Makoto fed more power to Yuki. Yuki dropped Heero on the floor like a rag doll. Heero was okay; they were just minor wounds. One of the men tried to escape. He began running, occasionally looking back at the monstrous plant. Makoto held out her hand to the escaping man. By this time controlling the plant was like moving her own body. Yuki/Makoto grew forward, like a snake, and wrapped around the feet of the man pulling him down on the floor. The man was dragged back towards the other assassins who were cornered. ‘We have to restrain them.’ Makoto held out her hand in front of her as if she were reaching for the group who were huddled together in fear. The vine raced toward them and circled around them. She squeezed her hand, but didn’t close it all of the way, and the men were wrapped tight in the vines. ‘Yuki. I must leave now. You don’t need any more of my power?’ Makoto spoke to the vine. ‘No. I will hold them here. Go, take your human and leave,’ it said. Makoto severed the connection between them. They were no longer linked and sharing power. Heero was right by her side when Makoto fell to her knees. She looked up into his eyes and almost cried. She felt almost desolate with the sudden loss of power, all that power. For a moment neither of them spoke. "If I ever loose control or become power hungry, promise me you’ll kill me," Makoto said in a serious tone. Heero didn’t answer. "We have to go now. The enemy is defeated. We have to go save the queen. Will those vines hold them?" "It should…" Makoto answered. "Then let’s go," Heero said and began running in the direction of the door. Makoto got up to her knees. Her bullet wound was bleeding again, even with her healing powers. But she stood and ran in the direction Heero went. She was in agony but Makoto was the kind of person who would hide the wound so no one would fuss, feel sorry for her or not to slow people down. Normal people call it pride. Makoto wasn’t aware of it. She was determined to keep up or die trying. They did reach the door with a minute to spare. Heero kicked it open and they both looked around. It was bad. Relena was ten feet away from them and looked terrified. The man from Makoto’s dream, the man with the scar, was standing there and he had a gun pointed at Relena. They were weaponless. Heero had nothing and Makoto had little elemental energy left. She remembered Kya’s warning about using up all of her power. She didn’t want to die that way. And Relena was being held at gunpoint. Even from across the room Makoto doubted that he could miss. The situation had went from bad to worse… ********** Now that was the end. I hope I didn’t confuse anybody with any of that elemental crap. If I did then you know what to do. The others will be back in the next chapter. I’m not going to promise when I can get it out, school is starting and all that. This chapter was sort of late because I went shopping (vain little me). So please review if you’ve enjoyed it. I won’t set a limit or anything on reviews as long as you come back to read it. So long people.
