I'm back and really tired. But I found the energy to upload this chappie. It's not as long as I promised because the chapter was too long and I had to split up. To make up for it this chapter has the long awaited action scenes. I'm really sorry guys. I'll try to upload the chapter by Saturday. It would be sooner but I have to go back-to- school shopping. Updates will be sparse until winter vacation because my parents have said they are cutting my Internet time since my grades weren't too good on the last report card (which I've hid successfully from them until now :( ). So don't kill me. Just read this chapter. Chapter V- Getting There (Important note: There is lots of hopping around on this chapter on the different pairs. Its important to know that all these events will be happening at the same time…nearly the same time. You’ll see why I’m being so mysterious in the next Chapter, promise. And just to warn you this chapter is somewhat bloody, nothing you wouldn’t see on the Disney channel ^__^) *Rei and Wufei* They had been running through the long (and seemingly empty) corridors of the vast palace in utter silence. "What did you mean by what you said earlier on-Rei?" he corrected himself. "What?" Rei asked puzzled. "About the Queen." Rei didn’t answer. Wufei left it alone for about two more minutes of silence. "She’s gone…It’s a part of my life that is better forgotten," Rei belatedly answered. Wufei left it alone once more. "Turn left here," he said. They both did and froze in their tracks at the scene before them. There were ten men in the hallway. They were walking slowly to what looked like the stateroom. The men (who were heavily muscled) were either unarmed or had a handgun. Rei thought she felt something in the air. But she didn’t have the leisure to assess her feelings. So far the men (who were most likely their assassins) hadn’t noticed them. Well that didn’t last for too long. One of the men turned and saw Rei and Wufei sneaking behind them. "I guess we’re busted," Rei said. The man turned and alerted his companions. Before they could get their weapons up Wufei dashed in. He took his katana and ran one of the men through. He collapsed as Wufei looked for the next guy. "Get him!" one of the would-be assassins yelled. Wufei kicked one guy in the jaw and was about to finish him when one of the guys grabbed him by the ankles and lifted him by the waist. Wufei was now held over the guy’s head like he was a weight. Rei felt really weaponless. "Hey let him go!" she shouted. The man ignored her. Rei ran and kicked the man who held Wufei in the crotch. He didn’t appear to feel it. "I said let him go!" Rei punched him in the chest. "Shall I let her have him guys?" the man asked his friends. There were shouts of ‘yeah’ and ‘hurry up’. The man literally threw Wufei at Rei, sending them both crashing into the wall. Rei’s skull hit the wall and she blacked out briefly. When she regained consciousness she heard someone say "Finish them off Phil." Wufei was in standing in front of her though not quite protectively. He had a gun in his hand and looked like he had been using it. But that was strange in itself because all of their enemies were standing (except for the one Wufei killed which had mysteriously disappeared…). Wufei aimed for a man’s heart and fired. The bullet sped though the air and missed. "What? It was aimed perfectly," Rei whispered. Wufei, out of bullets, threw the gun at the man’s head. The man unharmed, laughed. Rei stood, prepared to defend herself. She was angry, really angry. The man’s laughter was really getting to her. "Serenity-sama show me how to use my power," Rei prayed silently. Then Rei began to feel warm…really warm and tingly. The heat was a comfort. "Where is it coming from," she whispered. Then she got her answer. She looked at her hands. She had vines of fire on them, that wasn’t odd because she always had them. But they were glowing. "Hurry up. We have to go meet with the others. Just finish them off!" a man said. Rei realized that they couldn’t see her because Wufei was still standing in front of her. The sound of the man’s laughter at her was repeating in her head. It was getting louder. Her head began to pound. Rei covered her ears with her hands to make the voices stop but they didn’t. With the never ending laughter and the pain it was too much. "SSSSSStttttttttoooooooopppppppp!" Rei screamed. The good thing was that the pain stopped, the bad thing was that all eyes were on her. She looked at her hands now and saw that a ball of her element, fire, floated over each of them. "Rei, what are you doing?" Wufei asked. Rei, preoccupied with something else, vaguely realized that Wufei did not call her ‘onna’ or ‘weak onna’ this time. She looked at her hands again and back at the assassins and grinned. "Hey lady what are you laughing at?" "Do you think your tricks can save you?" The men asked. Rei stopped laughing and threw a ball of fire at the speaker. The man was thrown backwards by the force of the blast into the wall where he passed out. Rei smiled and threw the remaining fireball at the man who had previously laughed at her. He was thrown beside his fellow assassin. "Um…Rei do you know what you’re doing?" Wufei asked nervously. Rei laughed at his discomfort. ‘Serves that baka right,’ she thought. The seven remaining men looked scared. Rei concentrated on her empty hands. She felt the similar tingling sensation but other then that, nothing happened. While she was trying in vain to grow another fireball a man took the opportunity and lunged at her with his knife. Rei looked up and saw the man running at her, knife in hand. She panicked and screamed. There was a bright red light…no it wasn’t a light. Rei was staring into a wall of fire. She backed up abruptly and in doing so she bumped into Wufei. "What did you do onna?" he asked in awe of the flames. There was a large wall of flame from the floor to the ceiling separating Rei and Wufei from the assassins. "What did I do?" she whispered. Touching the mesmerizing flames she found that they didn’t burn. But Wufei, curious, did the same things and burned his finger. Wufei looked at his watch and found that they had two minutes to get to the stateroom and told Rei. She panicked again but forced herself to calm down. Looking past the flames she saw the assassins were getting their wits together and were preparing to leave. "I can’t let them leave." Without really thinking about it she swept her arms through the flames. The firewall vanished. "Onna, do that fire thing again. Trap those assassins," Wufei ordered. Rei was angry at the tone of his voice but knew it had to be done. She just wasn’t sure how. Then she reached her hand out to the retreating men. Fire rose from her hand and surrounded the men, stopping them in their tracks. The coil of fire spun around the men, not touching though, in a tight spiral. Rei then sank to her knees in exhaustion. "Can you keep them in the cage like that?" Wufei asked. Rei nodded. "It should hold even if I’m not here. And I don’t think it will burn the palace down…" Wufei retrieved his katana and returned to Rei’s side. She had fainted again. "I know I’m not going to like this but she might be useful later," Wufei said aloud. He slung the unconscious Rei over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Rei woke up instantly and began to pound on his back. "Put me down! Baka, put me down!" she screamed. Wufei smirked and dumped her on the floor. Rei was about to protest her treatment when Wufei started to run in the direction of the door to the stateroom. Rei rallied her remaining strength and followed the man with the ponytail. They did reach the door. But before they reached it they heard a gunshot…they were too late… *Minako and Duo* Minako was following the man in the priest’s outfit. ‘Why does he wear that…’ she wondered. But she was afraid to ask. There was no talk between them because they were still embarrassed about the whole shower incident. Minako sighed. "What’s wrong?" Duo asked automatically. "Nothing…well it’s just that I don’t like fighting. I’m sick of fighting and now I’m expected to do it all over again. I just want to have a happy life." "What are you talking a-" Duo stopped talking as they came across a group of ten men. They were huge well-muscled men. "The assassins," Mina said. She instantly covered her mouth as she realized her mistake. But it was too late; they had been spotted. Duo pushed Minako behind him and pulled his gun out and fired at the advancing men. The gun must have been defective or something because all ten shots he fired missed. And the thing was, he only had ten bullets in the first place. He threw the gun aside and charged the man nearest to him. Duo’s shoulder slammed the unsuspecting assassin onto a marble statue. The statue and the man were both down for the count. "Damn…Relena’s going to kill me again!" Duo cursed as he looked at the broken statue. "Duo look out behind you!" Minako yelled. Duo turned and as he did his face connected with a man’s fist. Duo stumbled backwards and clutched his now swelling black eye. Minako was lucky. The men either didn’t notice her or thought she wasn’t a threat. So she closed her eyes. "I don’t want to fight but I don’t have a choice anymore. But since I have to fight I need to make sure the time weave doesn’t collapse. Serenity-sama please don’t let anybody else get hurt. Give me the power to defeat these evil men." Mina opened her eyes. Her hands started to tingle. She looked at her hands and saw that her gold heart-chain tattoos were glowing. "What the," she whispered. Mina heard a loud noise and saw that one of the men had given Duo a savage kick to the side. This fueled Minako’s growing anger. "Please hurry up," she said to nobody in particular. Then a whip appeared in her right hand. It was formed with gold heart links made out of…she didn’t know what. In her left hand floated two small balls of pink light. They radiated love. "Well thanks Serenity-sama." Minako was curious as to what the balls did so she tried them first. "Hey ugly! Get away from Duo!" she yelled. The men looked up from their ‘work’ and at Mina. "Or what?" a man asked. Minako had hid the whip behind her back, using it as a last resort. She took her left hand and blew on the two balls. The pink ‘love balls’ floated over to the men who were beating up Duo. The balls touched the men and disappeared inside of their bodies. Minako and Duo waited impatiently for the results. The two men spaced out for a minute. Then the first one shook his head as if to shake off something. He looked at one of the other men, not the one who also was also hit by the ball. Then he ran up to the man and slung his arm around him as if to hug him. "Did I ever tell you that you were always my favorite friend?" the ball struck man asked the other assassin who looked uncomfortable. The second man who got struck by the ball took the man nearest and kissed him. The normal man pulled away. "What the hell is up with you? I don’t swing that way," he said. The second man sighed, hearts filled his eyes. Minako started to laugh. All eyes…mostly were on her. "Turn them back you witch!" a man screamed. "Come give daddy some sugar!" the first man said. The guy he was ‘molesting’ ran down the hallway to get away but the ball struck man was in heart pursuit. Minako smiled. They were going in the direction away from the door. The second man promptly did the same and chased his ‘boy toy’ down the hall way yelling ‘come back. I only want what you want.’ Minako tried to keep a straight face through the angry looks thrown from the five remaining men. "Get her!" Minako took her whip from behind her back and knocked the weapons out of their hands. She stood in front of Duo protectively and brandished her whip. Duo by this time was up and was about to pay them back for what they did to him but Minako stopped him. "Let me Duo-kun. You need to rest. You do look pretty beat up. And we don’t have time…I got an idea!" "Minako…what’s that look on your face? You are starting to scare me," Duo said nervously. Minako laughed maniacally. She took her whip and concentrated. It disappeared to her surprise. "Well, I’ll be damned…how does this whip work!" she screamed out. Then she felt something tingling in her right hand and had another idea. She held her palm out in front of the group of assassins. A chain of heart energy whirled out of her hand and wrapped around all of the men, effectively tying them up. Duo whistled at the impressive scene in front of him. A chain of glowing hearts tied up all five men. "Weird but impressive," he commented and turned to Mina. But Mina wasn’t there; she was collapsed on the floor. Checking his watch he saw they had three minutes to get there. Duo picked Mina up in his arms and ran full speed for the door. He did reach it but right when he pulled the doorknob there was a loud gunshot. Minako woke up groggily after hearing it. "We’re…too late…" she whispered. *Trowa and Quatra* For the sake of consistency I should at least say what happened to Trowa and Quatra. A one liner really. They went to get reinforcements from the security wing and got a couple of soldiers. When they were half way to the stateroom they heard a loud gunshot. They were too late. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ That was the end of the chapter. The fight was a little…weird and possibly confusing. If you were confused then just e-mail me and I’ll straighten it all out. I’ll update by Saturday or so. Goodbye! -_-
