The Z Morning crew are: Darren B. Lamb, Buzz Bishop, Erin Davis and Tara.

Darren: Z95.3 Presenting BACKSTREET BOYS; Theyre gonna be here October 1st. Maybe we all didnt really feel like Destinys Child last night, as it turned out it was cancelled anyway, they are rescheduled for Tuesday. I do think we will be more than ready to have some fun in a couple weeks, uh, the Boys were in Toronto last evening, and are on the line with the Z Morning Crew, its Nick Carter...

Nick: Hey! Good Morning guys!

Darren: Well, how did it go last night?

Nick: Good man, it went great. I mean, the crowd was hyped. It was really good. We were kinda worried how things were going to be accepted because of the whole situation.

Erin: It must have been so emotional, though. Did you do any special tributes or did you take a moment during the concert?

Nick: Uh, we pretty much just took a moment to just, you know, recognize what happened.

Darren: How are you guys holding up, considering the events of the last few days?

Nick: Well, one of our guys actually passed away on the plane - one of our crew guys. Who actually works with me underneath the stage to actually push up the lift where I come up. He was actually training another guy to do what he does for me and, um, he was going to come back after a certain amount of time. He was going home to have his baby. His first baby. And he was on the plane that went into the World Trade.

Buzz: That was Daniel Lee?

Nick: Yes.

Darren: Well, our sympathies to you guys today, thats just awful news.

Nick: I mean, its amazing, I mean not amazing but its horrifying when it touches, you know, when it gets that close to you.

Buzz: How do you guys feel being outside the United States, you got a couple dates in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa this week. How do you feel being away from home?

Nick: Uh, actually, I felt safer here, for some reason. Thats what a lot of people were doing. They want to get out of New York, and the big cities and flee somewhere. You know, we were already in Canada - Toronto. Which, from what I know is a very neutral place in the world.

Tara: How about you guys? Where were you when you heard about all that was going down?

Nick: Two of the guys were actually in Boston. Um, it was kinda weird because two of them were in Boston, I was here in Toronto when it first started out, and it was scary because Brians wife, Leighanne, could have possibly taken that Boston to LA flight. Because he decided to stay there a little bit longer just because he wanted to spend some time with her. And it was so accessible for them to easily put her on that flight- Boston to LA, at that morning time, and him just go to Toronto. But, you know, its weird how things happen, and I think he was definitely very freaked out over the situation.

Erin: No doubt. You as an artist are pretty plugged into the generation that adores you, do you have any thoughts for them? or a message for them? or do you have any thoughts on how this will impact them?

Nick: I mean, its the most horrifying thing thats ever happened to American history. Ever. You know? So, the only thing I could try to say is just keep your spirits high, and try not to be so confrontational because although things like this do happen, I believe that fighting back with fire is not a good thing. Its hard when things like that happen to us, we definitely want to fight back. We wanna be like who did it? But, Im not a confrontational person. I think theres ways to find out and fix listen to us, were still gonna tour, because we want to, to perform and keep people happy. Have something that they can retreat to and get their minds off of things.

Tara: Definitely. What about being out of the country as you are - in Toronto? Did you take some time last night or yesterday to talk with your family and just kinda connect with them?

Nick: Oh yeah. My brother actually saw the plane hit the building. He was actually in New York.

Tara: Oh, man.

Nick: My little brother saw it. Hes only 13. He saw something that Ive never seen in my life.

Buzz: It must kinda put the difficulties you guys have had as a band, you know with AJs struggles, kinda into perspective. Although that stuff is big...

Nick: AJ made it through his thing and maybe we can take it as hope. Hey, AJ made it through this so we can make it through something too. AJs just a small part of how humans are, and how people are. You get hurt, and you learn from your mistakes and you try to just make it better.

Buzz: Even in the aftermath of this tragedy in New York, you know were all trying to put our lives back together and get back on with some sort of day to day schedule to make us all feel a little bit more comfortable in our place in the world, uh, you guys have a new album coming out, you released the new single yesterday, if you could tell us a little bit about Chapter One, and your new song, Drowning.

Nick: Chapter one is basically packed with...Well first of all, the CD, the reason we wanted to release it- because we wanted to show people, hey, this is what weve gone through for the first half of our career, because we believe that weve got a whole nother 11 years to go. Which will create Chapter part two. But this is things that weve been through, and this is our life. Were really proud of what weve released as singles. So, thats why we wanted to do that. We kinda wanted to keep...Im not necessarily saying anybody but some people have kinda forgotten. And that just happens in life, you kinda forget what people have been through, what theyve done and this is kinda just like a reminder. To say hey, were still here. Look what weve done. And we put the song Drowning on the album because we wanted to have something new for our fans and the people who listen to us. The song was a song that was supposed to be on the Black & Blue album but we decided not to do that because the song was, we thought - we werent too confident with it at the point when we released the album. It actually turned out better because now we have something new and fresh for our fans.

Darren: Hey Nick, how confident are you guys about your future? Because we keep hearing rumours that oh theres rumblings and you guys may not be together for a long time. But the way you talk, I think youre disputing that already, arent you?

Nick: Of course. I mean, people are just gonna say what they gotta say. [laughs] You gotta talk about something. Maybe we are getting so boring because we are staying around for so long [giggles].

Darren: So, Backstreet Boys are together an united we jam!

Nick: Definitely.

Darren: Good.

Buzz: Well, we look forward to seeing you on our stages here in October. Big love to AJ, and our hearts going out to you and your friends and the family of Daniel and to Brian and his wife. It was oh, so close, but it still touched you guys, and were feeling it here.

Nick: Yeah. Thank you.

Darren: Thank you. Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys with the Z Morning Crew. Were gonna play that brand new single next.

Thank you Nick Carter for just joining us.
