- How To Conduct Effective Public Prayer that will lead people to be saved– 1 Tim. 2: 8-15
Effective Public Worship requires a wholesome presentation to bring about an effective demonstration
- Men In Public Prayer – 1 Tim. 2: 8
- Men should take the lead to pray and show emotions and external demonstrations(i.e. as lifting up their hands)
- Lifting Up of Hands demonstrates in a symbolic and/or mystic gesture of you raising yourself to a higher level to show reverence to God
- Lifting Up Of Hands makes a visual statement that "I’m involved"
- Men must master this because generally speaking, men are less prone to outward demonstrations because of the perception of weakness
- Men should not pray in anger because it’s a hindrance to effective public prayer
- Men should not be wavering in their belief and attitude towards God
- Women In Public Prayer – 1 Tim. 2:9-12
- The Woman’s Dress Code sends a more powerful mental and visual image than the man’s dress code
- The Woman’s Dress Code says something about her heart
- The Man’s Dress Code says something about his attitude
- The Woman’s Dress Code should fit the occasion – Public Worship
- Underdressed
- Avoid Scantily clad outfits having sexual overtones
- Disrupting men’s focus on the Lord
- Disrupting the women’s focus on your motives
- Avoid Dirty and filthy garments
- Overdressed
- Avoid Fashions that brings inappropriate attention to yourself(i.e. flashy jewelry, outlandish hair-dos, overt make-up, clothing)
- You can become prideful trying to maintain your look and not focusing on God
- Modesty
- Dress in a way that says you’re "Godly".
- Outward Appearance can cause disruptions and sends positive or negative messages
- Paul’s Reasonings for Proper Order in Public Worship
- Curse On Creation
- Improper order leads to spiritual anarchy
- The image of women lording over men is the first step Satan uses to introduce spiritual deception into the Public Worship
- Female Gender is more accessible to the Spirit-World(good & evil)
- Paul is not anti-woman; he is anti-deception
- Spiritual deception is more easily susceptible through the female gender not that it can’t be done in men. (Gen. 3:15)
- There is a curse on each gender resulting from Adam’s sin and we must live within the boundaries(Gen. 3:16-19)
- Women assist the men in the effectiveness of Public Worship by presenting a quiet spirit – 1 Tim. 2: 11
- Paul is not forbidding women to speak(1 Cor. 11:5); but he is asking them to present a quiet soft demeanor during public worship
- Not boisterous or speaking out of turn claiming the Spirit is moving me.
- To Model The Salvation Experience
- God saved humanity through child-birth(Gen. 3:16)
- Without child-birth humanity would be extinct
- Although death is a constant reminder of deception caused on humanity; the child-birth experience eases that pain and shows that God provides salvation.
- God redeemed mankind through the greatest child-birth event; the birth of Christ
- The rearing of children is part of the contribution that is so desperately needed. This models how God is nurturing his children to be more like him
- This victorious statement should cause men and women to live in harmony avoiding chaos within the culture and the church.
- Conclusion
- Paul is not anti-woman or anti-feminist (Rom. 16; Philippians 4:3); he is trying ensure spiritual deception is minimized in public worship. Eden is now restored in the form of our Public Worship. The Original Eden was destroyed via deception and the New Eden (Church Worship) can be undermined as well. This is easily accessible through the female gender. Thus, evil spirits enter in and ultimately salvation is minimized to mankind. This is Satan’s goal. Paul has to remind the church of the cause and effect of the curse put on mankind at the Garden Of Eden and the seriousness of its repercussions on the female and male gender. However, in the midst of the curse he gives us a way out by allowing the savior to come into this world by way of a salvation event(child-bearing)so that men could be saved everywhere.
