No Regrets
So many disappointments,
From faulty choices made,
If Only I
had heeded.
If only I'd
obeyed.
He tried to guide my footsteps
So faithfully each day,
But always I resisted
And had to have my way.
Why was I so rebellious,
So stubborn and so proud?
If only I had listened
To Him, and not the crowd.
There's time enough to worry
And fret
and fuss and fume
If I don't
learn to listen
To Him, and very soon!
Now, sadly I confess it,
Sin's pleasures have been few,
The painful memories linger
Tormenting me anew.
At last I've learned that lesson,
The learner ne'er forgets:
If I'll just do things His way
I'll suffer no regrets.
Now, "All things work together
For my eternal good..."
The trials He's called me to endure
Made of me what He would.
I'm thankful for the lessons,
Such valuable vignettes
I now can live a blessed life
Of peace,
with no regrets.
