Have you ever had the feeling that everyone else knew some wonderful, special secret to which you were not privy? Some delicious dreamy reality of which you never heard? Something you needed but no one wanted or cared to give you?
That may be the very way you feel right now. Or perhaps you know someone who does. It's a lonely feeling - a sad, empty feeling, isn't it?
Most of the time, it happens because we have no knowledge of the Savior's love and peace. But it can often happen to us Christians too. We become overcome with life's busyness, & stress, overwhelmed because we've taken on more than we should - carrying MY load, not the one Jesus hand-made for us, disillusioned watching our dreams crumble, or desires crushed. our hopes destroyed because they are OURS, not the Father's. Often we get just plain fed up with the way our life is going. We are hitting the bottom on a regular basis, but we don't know why. We know there is no unconfessed sin in our heart, but there is still that empty feeling of being on the outside looking in.
Why would a Christian find himself "outside" the home of love and fellowship of brothers and sisters where he belongs? More importantly, HOW? I'll tell you for certain, it doesn't happen overnight... you usually don't even realize that it is happening. It is gradual, unnoticed, like drifting in an unanchored dingy relaxed & without a care on your mind. In a very deadly way, done with our complete approval, even cooperation. We become blinded by our lack of daily quiet time with the Father. Without regular feedings, and times of refreshing, there is no way that we can be battle-ready. And whether we are aware of it or not, whether we want to be or not, every day we face another day of WAR - your mind being the battleground, the enemy Satan himself, and the prize, your very soul and spirit.
By your own lack of attention, you drift so far... then a bump or a thud brings you back to reality and you find yourself on an unknown shore...alone...frightened...and you have no idea where you are or how you got there!
Remember this, dear sister: If you are one numbered with the saints of God you are in a battle every day before your eyes open to the first light of dawn. Decide now: will you fight on His side and be assured a place in His home, at His ample table, where you are loved and you are family? or will you throw it all away remaining forever on the outside looking in?
Fight or hide, those are your choices, but first: THINK OF THE ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES TO BE PAID. Will you return to your rightful place at the richly spread table of your Father or will you resign yourself to the window outside looking in? The decision is yours!
One who understands,
Elisabeth
