Abstract

An  experimental  field was conducted during two successive years in October (1999-2000) and (2000-2001) at the station of NRC. Kalubia, Egypt , to investigate the influence of potassein  (P), potassein (N) and Ascobine as alone or in combination on growth characters, yield and seed chemical constituents of fenugreek plants. The results revealed that all foliar applications increased significantly plant height, number of pods /plant , pod weight/plant, seed number/pod, seed number/plant weight of 100 seed, yield /plant and yield/feddan. The highest value of plant height was observed with foliar spray with 4 cm potassein (N) + Ascobine  during the two seasons, while seed yield was heaviest when the plants received 4 cm/l potassein (p) + Ascobine at the two seasons. All of applied treatments caused a significant increase in total, soluble and insoluble sugars, total lipids and total protein, meanwhile the increase in  trigonelline alkaloid was insignificant. 4 cm potassein (P) gave the highest values of total soluble and insoluble sugars.   But for total lipids 2 cm/l  potassein  (p) + Ascobin was  superior, and  the greatest  value  of  total protein was resulted by 2 cm/l potassein  (N).   The highest  increase of trigonelline content was due to 2 cm/l  potassein (N).   All the treatments  improved the accumulation of N,P and K in fenugreek seeds .The treatment 4 cm potassein (N) +Ascobin was the most effective in increasing nitrogen .In the same time 4 cm potassein (p) +Ascobin gave the least value of phosphorus content .The content of Fe and Mn were higher in treated plants than in control on the other hand the content of Zinc was decreased due to all treatments except for 2 cm/l potassein (p) which caused slight increase in Zn content.
