| I really enjoy this series, even though it isn't terribly original it manages to hold it's own against all the other sci-fi anime out there. The main problem with this show is that many people may write it off as a dumbed down version of Eva, but there is a definitive plot and the characters have a lot of personality. It isn't one of those series that will haul you in immediately as it starts out fairly simplistic and oddly paced, but as the series progresses the characters gain some background and the plot picks up pace and becomes more complex. Since this series had quite a large budget and is only a year old the animation is very good, the voice acting is well done as well. The soundtrack is perfectly suited to the show. There could have been a few improvements, like a slightly better paced beggining to grab the viewers attention more and maybe a slightly darker colour scheme could have suited the plot more. A vague outline of the plot as far as I could make it out; The future and children are being born with the ability to summon robotic others based on their personality and psychological makeup, most of these people are stuck out in the slums on the outskirts of the city, in an attempt to stop any uprisings a facist group consisting of several of these kids is formed under the name Holy who frequently raid the slums for no reason. Obviously this gets more complex as it goes on but that about covers the first 4 episodes. I recommend any sci-fi fans to see this series, specifically fans of Eva, it may be simpler, but at least the ending won't tear you brain screaming from your body. Review by Alia |
