| Another of Capcoms games getting the anime treatment, although this time they picked the cult favorite as oppossed to one of their large names. This is a series I really wanted to enjoy since I was a huge fan of the games, but to me it just lacked so much of the games charm it became a chore to sit through. The characters whilst looking like their game counterparts lacked any of the humour or wackiness that made them so fun to play as. Few of them got enough screen time to do them justice and others appeared for maybe a frame or two in the background. The plot was far too serious for the series as well. Darkstalkers was like a comedy B-movie horror in it's game form so how they got to serious world threatening drama i'll never know. If they had done a proper job of it and made it into a slapstick B-movie horror OAV I think far more people would have enjoyed it. Instead it goes pretty much ignored and deservedly so, hopefully capcom learned from this and will keep closer to the games in future. Even if you are a huge fan of the games there is little to redeem this, it really isn't worth the time of tracking down to watch it. Reviewed by Alia |
