Cardcaptor Sakura
Possibly the most famous series from the all women team of CLAMP. Also the most popular of their series so far although Chobits is doing a good job of catching up.

The story follows Sakura and her attempt to recapture the Clow cards (cards with various powers sealed in them) after she accidently lets them loose. To help her are her best friend Tomoyo, the beast of the seal Keroberos (kero-chan), her rival Li Syaoran, and Li's fiancee Meiling.

This isn't one of the most original series plot wise, but it is done with so much innocent charm and humour it is difficult not to fall in love with this harmless magical girl series.

The supporting cast is also varied and interesting meaning that they can afford to take the focus off of the main characters once in a while. This also makes for interesting side plots and sub plots.

The third series takes a bit of a different direction as Sakura has captured all the cards by then.

In general this series has a lot of stand out episodes from ones that will have you on the edge of your seat from excitement to ones that will have you reaching for the tissues. They really pull every emotion well and the characters develop well through their experiences.

This series is well worth any anime fans time to check out it seems capable of winning anyone over even the gore and hentai crowds.
