"I always knew I'd come into my own in my 30s. I found my 20s a bit perplexing because it's that transition between being a teenager and an adult and you're still trying to find yourself. This decade is a good age for a woman."
Letitia as a bridesmaid when she was only 2 or 3 years old! Awww!
When Letitia Dean's mum Ellie, was about to give birth to her at their Hatfield home, her landlady sent a very unusual gift - an old wooden door! "Mum was told to place it under the bed to help her comfort and posture while she was in labour," explains the still bemused actress, best known as EastEnders Sharon Watts.

The mystery of such an eccentric present is easily explained when one learns the identity of the sender, though - none other than late romantic novelist, Barbara Cartland. For Letitia's family were renting a cottage in the grounds of Dame Barbara's estate, Camfield Place, in Hatfield when she came into this world on November 14, 1967.

Aged only 11, Letitia made her TV debut in childrens school drama, Grange Hill and it was there that she met another future Albert Square stalwart, Susan Tully. The pair were reunited in 1984 at the auditions for EastEnders, when both won parts as members of the original cast. The latest twist in Letitias life is that she has actually got married - to businessman Jason Pethers.

Then the producers of EastEnders decided it was time for Sharon Watts to return to the Queen Vic. "It was wonderful to breathe life into Sharon again," says Letitia.

Letitia Dean might make a living as a feisty female, but acting is, after all, only make-believe.

In an early storyline, young Ian, Sharon and Kelvin were caught watching a porn video by Ian's parents, Kathy and Pete. Unknown to them, the actors had managed to get their hands on the real thing. So the reactions on Gillian Taylforth and Peter Dean's faces were not acted.

Ever heard of Jack, Pearl and Tracey? They were the original names of the Watts clan, but were changed at the last minute to Den, Angie and Sharon.

Letitia loves Grenada, 'From a room overlooking the sea you can smell the spices on the beach and if you drive into the hills you can literally pick the nutmeg as you go by.'

Letitia isn't the biggest fan of the press. She says: "It does get annoying being snapped putting your rubbish out!".

Letitia lied about her roots to get her part on EastEnders. Originally you had to be from the East End to get a part, and Letitia claimed she was!

Letitia and Paul J Medford released a single that featured in Eastenders called "Something Outta Nothing."
