Drive to LA
I was quite happily driving along the scenic road, singing away when we decided to stop and then Elle decided she wanted to get her feet weton the California coast so off we traipsed to the beach watched her get wet - it was very windy which was great as it blew all the cobwebs from the night before away.
Once ells had been satisfied off we went again - next stop Santa Cruz for some well deserved lunch. The sun came out the further south we went and the views were magnificent although coz I was driving wasn't able to see much. Got to Santa Cruz and lunch was ok not great, by this time Michael had lots of footage on his camera of the drive so far. Looked out on the beach with the rollercoaster in the background which was great - normally see it in movies and tv. On the way out of Santa Cruz we took a wrong turn which was quite amusing.
Finally we made it onto highway 5 (by this time we running quite a bit behind schedule as I didn't want to hit LA traffic at night). Once on highway 5 the music went up, the singing got louder and the trucks were all honking their horns at us which was absolutely fantastic (Elle has fallen in love with the American trucks - she thinks they are very sexy - ahem). Through out this time, Michael kept on bringing out his video camera for some cool footage. I also got a neck massage from both Michael and Lalitta while driving which was lovely.
At one stop (which turned out to be the last one before LA) we asked how much further it was to LA and when they told us I nearly died, they said it was about another 6 hrs and we probably wouldn't make it in time for our flight - bugger that I thought, we will get there in time by hook or by crook! (its ok I was very careful).
Finally we made it to LA in the dark where I was greeted by 6 lanes of traffic with white lights and 6 lanes of traffic with red lights and my god that was confusing (by that time all the lights were merging together as my eyes were sooo tired) where it was time to say goodbye to Burt who had been our trusty car for the day - ahhh. The four of us then made our way to LAX airport courtesy of Hertz which was free - yipee!!
It was one of my top 5 days in my life which I can never repeat even though by the end of it I was a walking zombie!! (left San Francisco at 8 am and arrived LAX at 8.30pm).
So the time has come to bid farewell to the USA and close this chapter of the world tour as we embarck on new terriority otherwise known as FIJI!!!
