This introduction has two parts. The first is current and the second is archival. I used to update over the old but now it's so different I felt like stuff was getting lost. So then...

Tammy Faye Messner and the first day of summer. summer is here and what better way to celebrate the rising heat and trashy fashion of this summer than by paying a visit to former Christian televangelist diva Tammy Faye Bakker. Check out this NPR bit on her. *** Criticism of white house policy published abroad *** The new wave's comin', i warn ya the kids in america are busy re-hashing early 80's pop tunes. an update (coming soon) on what passes for indie these days.

Habermas in the bedroom. i'm unpacking books. lee will be upset by my lack of discretion in mixing fiction and philosophy, Hocus Pocus next to 1000 Plateaus. we have shelves all over the house now. he's never going to be able find anything. chaos/control. so be it. i made sure of one thing. all the critical theory books are right by the bed. so you wake up in the night, nightmares of pseudo-differentiation and fascism in open communication, negative dialectics and theory of communication will be ready for handy reference.
when unpacking boxes, it is best to be listening to Carmen Miranda in monostereo. e bateu-se a chapa may samba live on!
i spent some time on mp3.com listening to Lucy (the bass player is an old friend) and then moved on to Dakota Smith, very highly recommended. wade through the distortion and you'll find some real gems. as well i stumbled on the Saint James Head Trip, which is this mythical musician on the Mississippi Gulf Coast who dated my friend. I've never actually spoken to him but he comes across as kind of spooky. all this homemade music makes me want to start on my long put off project of recording a terrible Christian country album about a kid who leaves home. its a concept album. its country cause that the only kind of music i can sing. nice n low. its terrible well because i can't play any instruments. its Christian because that's funny. but Kathleen said I was good song writer, yeah when we were on our car trip to New Orleans this weekend, i sang a song about In the House with Jesus, who went over the neighbors for some barbeque. it rocked. ok maybe it didn't rock. and maybe i'll never write a single country Christian song, but i offer my on the spot song making up services to any one who wants them.
