100 years to create, 1 storm to fell.
As you may have heard in the news, our area was hit pretty hard last night with a storm and shearing winds. Those winds took down one of my favorite trees. It landed right on our neighbors fence, which we'll replace tomorrow. She had even more damage when another 2 trees fell on the power, cable, and phone wires leading up to her house. It took us all from 8:30a-1230p to cut up the tree and pull it out of the way. We had a neighbor helping. It was dueling chain saws for a few hours. Bill and Jeremy cut, and I hauled away. We'll have to make the trips to the dump tomorrow. We didn't even have the worst luck, the entire area is just wreckage. Most of the businesses are closed including Walmart, Kmart, and the grocery store downtown. There is only one grocery store left and they are extremely busy. As is Fleet Farm, who also managed to stay open. Jeremy was supposed to get off of work at 11p, but he finally got home after 3a. He said there were several street lamps knocked over, including some of the huge double-sided ones. Most of the city was in blackout last night, but luckily we didn't lose power. Sometime next week we'll have to take down the last branch and trunk of that tree. It's not going to be able to stay, but we're replacing our back porch this weekend so it will have to wait a bit. Just too much to do. Hopefully we'll have it all done before the party on the 25th.
